We all knew it would kick off though Lacey, we were even talking about it at the Arsenal Babies match last night.
They really should have been more on the ball regarding the security and segregation - everyone knew that Upton Park tube would be a major flashpoint

I get why they really won't crack down on the segregation thing...Mr L said it was being discussed on the club footie forums last night too. Frowner

My first ever Arsenal v Spurs at Highbury match of memory, I was about 8... I remember people spitting at each other when you had to walk down the tube and the away fans were separated by a metal barrier... but we all walked next to each other....I was petrified and my dad shouted at them to stop being disgusting coz he had us girls with him!

Dunno why I wrote that lol! Just a trip down memory Lane!

I was at the Hawthorns in 1982 when Leeds wrecked our ground, I was 16 years old and it was the first time me and my mate had been allowed to go to a night match on our own, it was a treat for us because it wasn't long before we left school.

That night I have NEVER been so scared at a football match and I have been to Villa and Wolves local derbies.

We were sheltered from the worst of it because 2 blokes took pity on us, and they told us to get out of the ground and run down Halford Lane towards where the police would be, we did this and had to go through some Leeds fans who thought it was funny to steal 2 small teenage girls scarves and spit on us, I have never been so glad to see a policeman as I was that night.

That sounds awful Frowner

I have only had a couple of bad experiences, thank god.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that,
toothless wonders run the game, suspended fine
I bet, Neither club will say it's their supporters, Impossible to punish the bad without inpacting on the good.

Hey stranger Valentine
did you have a good holiday?

The trouble in the ground was apparently all West Ham according to my mate and my son's mate and one of them is a Hammer.
Outside the ground it was just a free for all ruck with the police steaming in and beating anyone they could get within range off from what both of them are saying

It was rough, but wouldn't stop me going to matches - love the atmosphere and the banter.

Phil Thompson really cut up about this tonight, it's bringing back memories for him I think.
â™ĨPinkBabe1966â™ĨThe Angel under the tree!
i have only experienced trouble at matches against Millwall and Chelsea - the Millwall one had the away supporters in the Gwladys street Crazy Shake Head

Chelsea fans charged Goodison Road when me and my friend (both aged 15 at the time) where amongst the fans casually walking along and then finding ourselves hiding under a police car Disappointed

I know! The best bit of the whole day out for me is walking down the steps to our seats and seeing all the fans and soaking up the atmosphere! It's the best feeling!

Phil Thompson does look really upset doesn't he, I agree.

You've got pretty clear video footage of quite a few people there, so it shouldn't be too difficult to hand out life time banning orders for those stupid enough to run on the pitch.

Both clubs will be in trouble for the lack of control shown by fans, but because it's at Upton Park, and most of the fans in the footage seem to be West Ham fans, it's fair to say the bigger punishment should be handed out to them.

Whether or not it will be is another question all together though, the FA do like to brush these things under the carpet...

Pinky Hug
I've been quite lucky really with all the footie I've seen.
I have seen my share of rucks but nothing like it used to be.
We are even having an Arsenal fans v Celtic fans (Gooners v Bhoys) match at Highbury Fields tomorrow to raise money for John Hartson - there is no need for footie rivalry to turn to violence but the truth is that the people doing this just want a ruck and footie is the excuse Frowner

Hi Barney Valentine Hug, awww thats bad Frowner.

it was darlo Eeker

saying that, the so called "family atmosphere" of a merseyside derby has been out the window in the last few years - they are quite nasty now, not to the extent of what has happened tonight, but it has changed in the last few years Frowner

I bet the clubs will say these weren't regular supporters, Frowner

I don't know the ticketing policy of the two clubs, but if any season ticket holders were at the game, they'll know.
