Oh and I'm putting a vote in for my second club Brentford to go up to the Championship this season
More in hope than expectation I must say

The Lets be having you moment has got to be one of the most toe curling moments in footy history.
It was indeed, to this day she claims she wasn't drunk - You Tube suggests otherwise! Not drunk
A full house of passionate fans being ticked off by a p*** up old bird who clearly had one Sherry too many.
It was like a scene out of an old St Trinians movie with Delia as the drunken middle aged headmistress, at assembly.

I hope Leeds go up , but the most pleasing thing is if Walsall manage to get a top 10 spot considering the likes of Anthony Gerrard has gone to Cardiff, Chris Palmer to Gillingham and some of the older players gone they've had to rely on free transfers and have signed some decent players with a young squad.
Can't say I share your feelings there darloboy, I hope oh-so-massive club Leeds stay down. Huddersfield are tipped as strong challengers so it would be amusing for them to go up over Leeds.
Aside from that I'm not really bothered who goes up with Norwich, although I suppose Colchester and Southend are 'kind of local' although not really.
I'm surprised at a Man U fan wanting Leeds to go up, but I suppose they're no longer considered your rivals.
I don't mind Leeds tbh I was disappointed they didn't go up last season . Think Norwich will finish first with Leeds second and Charlton winning the play offs.

Hi Carnelian (Can't get used to calling you that )
I think the Emirates held a minutes applause before the matches rather than a minutes silence because of the huge amount of Rangers fans there - I think they were worried that they would not respect a silence for an English manager.
Perhaps Norwich should do that too
I'll be surprised if they don't. I do think that silence is more respectful than applause but it does drown out the idiots who'll try to ruin things.

LOL, I got fed up with being Ugetmi and decided to be Carnelian (a shade of red or a mineral) to annoy tory types on Random Banter, I couldn't decide on a name for here so became Carnelian on here as well. I think there's a better name than Carnelian (but not Ugetmi )
Morning all Setting off to the COMS at around 12:00, if we lose again i will cry
That were dreadful.
If Southgate thinks we will go up by trying to play for space and passing he will be disappointed. It's strength, ultra violence, and speed in the Championship, and we are going to get cut to shreds this season.

I listened to the match on the radio and even Danny Mills was saying that the tackles were bad.
How bad must they be for a thug like Danny Mills to comment on them?
Son is off with his mate to watch West Ham play (I think) Valencia today. His mate roped him in and the tickets are only a fiver
Come on Millwall!1

C'MON THE BAGGIES .
Just got back from the match, amazing experience it was. FT 2-1 to City, Tevez got the last 30 mins and was impressive, Stevie Ireland and Barry were brilliant. The defense was good aswell, Ben-Haim had quite a good game

I appreciate that this forum is mostly big four/premiership orientated and doesn't really care about little Norwich City but please bear with me.
Just back from the Norwich game (slightly drunken) and all I can say is "absolute disgrace" is flattery and no one in the club, other than the program sellers or ticket staff should dare to draw a wage next week or month for that matter.
Colchester were by far the better team and even when five nil down Norwich d**ked about with the ball as if it was 1-0 with two minutes to go.
Today was by far the most pitiful excuse for a display of football I've ever seen. Fans chanting "What a load of rubbish" on the first game of the season is never good, but "rubbish" is flattery to that shambols of a 'team'. That team can only aspire to be rubbish.
Today's result was a culmination of biatch Delia's 13 years, where good-intentioned but rank incompetence always overrules professonal judgement.
Delia (let's be avin you) - please **** off and take your money, Norwich would be better off without it and you.

Feel for you , that is a shocking way to start the season. First games are special - all the hopes & aspirations , is this going to be the year etc etc.
And then you get brought down to earth with an almighty thud

LOL, last night on this thread I did say that Norwich were "going to show League One how it's done."
Little did I guess that they were going to show League One how to be utterly pathetic and loose spectacularly.
On that game, relegation to League Two is an absolute certainty. Colchester weren't amazing and didn't need to be, they just outplayed Norwich in every area.
why don't you print these last few posts off - stick em to the fridge or wherever and when you're well safe by April/May you can laugh at the extremes of being a footy fan

Hi Darlo, Norwich got average crowds of 24,000 last season when they were rubbish and have the highest season ticket sales in League One (better than 'massive club' Leeds Utd). 25,000+ in League One to witness that disgrace is unforgivable. I know that those crowds are small compared to Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and most of the Prem (but not all!), but they are very big for the football league and Norwich have been sold short by their incompetent board.
What made me think was seeing all the little kids in their Norwich shirts today and thinking I critise glory hunting fans of big four clubs in Norfolk who've never been to Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield and the Emirates Stadium yet still claim to be fans.
But what about Norfolk Norwich parents indocrinating their kids into supporting Norwich and inflicting a lifetime of dissapointment and sporting depression on their kids. It's almost like child abuse.

It would be 'knee jerk' if they'd lost 2-0 but 7-1 at home and 5-0 well before half time suggests otherwise.

It's a shame but people can support whatever team they like. Most of the lads in my year at school were top 4 fans although I knew a couple of Albion, Wolves and Villa fans. My choice to support United was my own I followed my brothers admittedly even though my dad is a Baggies fan he's fine about it and never influenced us to support them been to the Hawthorns though .
Barton has been in a bust up with Chris Houghton apparently Just what the club needs... he really is a pillock.

I thought of you when they read the score out. There were some interesting calls to 606 this evening - quite a few saying that although Gunn is a nice bloke that it was clear at the end of last season that he wasn't up to the job.
What a miserable day for you mate.
I'm pleased that Brentford won away at Carlisle, I'm not looking for promotionm a bit of consolidation would do me.
As for Arsenal- we have just lost 2-0 to Valencia. The pitch and weather were shocking but we didn't play well either. At least it was only a friendly - we need to get sorted before we play Everton next week

Your choice is a wise one. The memories of cup finals, Champions' League comebacks and triumphs will be with you and not to mention watching a far better standard of football and far more committed professional players who care about the team they play for!
Sometimes you have to just admire the class of the top teams and the way they play their football, which is far more entertaining than watching a bunch of inept imbeciles (like the Norwich squad) hoof the ball around ineffectually for 90 mins.
You're right Moomin , I must have not noticed . WBA is the right place for him to progress his career but Swindon are to thank for making the most of his talent .

Norwich City 1-7 Colchester United
Rant over
We do care of course , it's a shame Norwich are going down the slippery slope it's Delia and the directors who should take mosty of the blame and players also. The fans would do a better job running the club . Norwich fans should be starting a Lets be avin you out club by now .
Your choice is a wise one. The memories of cup finals, Champions' League comebacks and triumphs will be with you and not to mention watching a far better standard of football and far more committed professional players who care about the team they play for!

I've only ever been to my local club Walsall twice , one was my school prom the other was when I was at primary school. Loved it at the Hawthorns when my dad and me went to watch the Albion . The lower teams have more passion and commitment which money can't buy though but then theres the disaster of financial breakdown or tight budgets .

Football League highlights are on BBC1 at 11.45 tonight guys.
Think I'll give that a miss!
Carnelian, I really feel for you, I was shocked when I saw the result yesterday and even said to my husband that a fellow FM would be devistated about that score. I genuinely hope you can pull it together and get out of League 1, but that was not a good start. Do you think it is time for Bryan Gunn to go? I think Delia has had a lot to answer for over this and she should definitely go.
Well all credit to Newcastle for a good game of footy (IMO). Both teams still a little match rusty, even though friendlys have been played, but I was quite pleased with the Baggies performance. Defence let us down slightly by letting the equaliser in, but nice to see them actually defending set pieces and corners, and not panicing as they would have done last season!
Moomin, Cox came on for last 10 mins and looked ok, was quite impressed with him, Luke Moore actually gave us a good game (wonder what Di Mat has said to him), and generally I can't think of a poor performance of any of our players.
All credit to Newcastle, they came and gave us a good game, but it still felt like a PL match, I do wonder how Newcastle will cope when they meet the more physical teams in our division. We are more used to the physically challenging teams in the Championship as we were there only 2 seasons ago.
All credit to Baggie officials and Newcastle officials and especial mention to the Toon Army who were superb during the match build up and minutes applause. A superb set of fans, who along with the Barmy Army, I hope we can all be back in the PL next season.
7/10 yesterday for the Baggies, now onwards and upwards for the Carling Cup on Tuesday!!
