Afternoon all from a very sad Baggies fan.
I had a bad night and have just woken up to the news that Sir Bobby has died. I am not ashamed to say I am crying typing this, what a legend the man was.
I even forgave him for the '78 Semi Final!
I had lost interest in footy in the late '80's and Italia 1990 and the England team brought back my love of football and made me love the beautiful game again.
Sir Bobby was one of the last few gentlemen left in this world and I think that the footy family has lost his granddad today, the tributes that are being said on SSN are so genuine.
Later on, I'm going to get some flowers and place them at the Astle gate for him, that's how sad I feel.
R.I.P. Sir Bobby, and my sincere condolences to his family.
Footy has lost a true legend today, the word is overused, but Sir Bobby is one.

I remember fergie even suspended his BBC boycott to present him with his award for Sports Personality, such was his fondness of him and for stubborn bugger like fergie is, that means something.

Goes to show just how much respect Fergie had for Sir Bobby to do that. Just read Fergies tribute .

Perones, I remember that, especially when Gary Lineaker said "The Gaffer", and the love and respect the whole team showed him.
That even made Mr PB cry that night!
I hope some form of tribute is done at the first match next week exspecially as we play Newcastle.
The reason I am so upset is that Sir Bobby reminded me of my granddad who was another true gentleman and also died in July.
But on the bright side, it looks as if England are beating the Aussies according to the text Mr PB has just sent me, to see if I am alright.
SSN have just showed a clip of Sir Bobby in a Baggies shirt scoring a goal!!

No, nothing on the Utd website yet I don't think but the article is from Sky Sports:

awww, and you know, even when he made his famous gaffes, people didn't laugh with ridicule, they did so with affection mostly , there was that one where he said something about 'so i went into the dressing room and said - theres nothing to say'
Thank you Darlo, a lovely tribute to him, I knew that Sir Alex had a great deal of respect for him and to read that has made me cry again.
A very nice tribute from Fabio Capello as well, but would have expected a tribute from Jose Mourinho as they worked together and Sir Bobby spoke very highly of him in his autobiography.
SSN are not even playing their theme music at the mo, just showing a picture of Sir Bobby.

I remember him once responding to a criticism from Laurent Robert about his team selection up at Newcastle with the classic "he's right, I picked him."
Maybe Mourinho will speak up at some point Pinkbabe .
I'm sure he will Darlo.
They had huge respect for each other.
As I am typing this a tribute has just come up from Mourinho, on the rolling news bar on SSN, a really nice one.

Morning all
Very sad news about Sir Bobby.Met the guy a few times
Hi Mazzy
aww did you ? bet he was nice
Cricket lovers...Aus 128/3 Onions got Watson first ball, and Hussey with his next ! ..have I mentioned before..I'll be there next week
I'm the only girl with four brothers who have very little interest in football, but I always wanted to play as a kid!I also fancied myself as a journalist. My mate and I waited behind after Ipswich played Arsenal and I asked him if he thought girls should be allowed to play football (for the school mag) and he said he thought there was too much prejudice in the game for that to happen 'in his lifetime'
When I was setting up our gilrs side nine years ago,I often thought of that. There were times when it was like banging your head against a brick wall...sexism is absolutely rife in the game still.
Even now,the girls sides are treated as inferior to the boys at our club.I got out of managing a few years back after a cancer op,and was glad in many ways.
Girls football's come a long way in a short time, but has a long way to go.
This is classic...

There will be a female manager of a football team in the next 10/20 years I think, so many young women have come into the game, that it can only be a good thing.
It's great to see in the local paper adverts for girls footy teams, and that the ladies professional game is getting more media coverage.
