Like I said last night. It's awfull that anyone goes down, but that's the way it is

I have to say that I thought, given the wealth, ground, fans, and players they were too big to go down.
Mis-management on a huge scale methinks.

They aren't conspicuously wealthy, compared to plenty of others in the Prem. A big ground doesn't make any dfference. The fans are just fans, like every others team's fans (the hype surrounding them is not justified, it's a media myth). And the players clearly weren't that good, or they would have stayed up. I can't think of one Toon player I'd want in my team.

But I think their downfall was the constant pressure they put on managers. No boss was ever allowed to just get on with the job. The lack of continuity is what ultimately cost them.

Nod. But at least Boro and West Brom can quietly plan for next season without the Media spotlight on them constantly which is what Newcastle won't be able to do unfortunately.

Or maybe we can, now that we're not in the 'big' league?

The press spotlight will be on Newcastle now even more so they won't be able to keep things as private as they would like to. Good luck for next season they'll be back up Nod Smiler.

Taylor? Gutz?

Nope Shake Head
Considering we were knackered yesterday (we have played over a dozen more games than Newcastle this season, due to Uefa etc) we were there for the taking.

Any decent side could have wiped us, but Toon were woeful.

Granted they were woeful, yesterday and most of the season but there are one or two that did try. However it takes the whole team, back again to players bleeding us dry and only being there for the money.

Had an ACE day at Hull City yesterday, it was absolutely magic the atmosphere!

Sorry for Newcastle, but when that own goal came through KC stadium erupted!! Big Grin

Shame city couldn't go up by scoring and that we had to rely on other teams doing as badly as we did. But at the end of the day luck was on our side yesterday and I will always be city till I die no matter where we are in the league! Big Grin Thumbs Up Valentine

I think the biggest problem Newcastle have, is their fans. They want their club to be a big club but they also want it to be run by somebody who is either a Geordie or has played for them.
The King Kev malarki last seaon and this was pathetic. Anyone not living in Geordieland knew that getting him back as manager was a disaster waiting to happen.
And now they are going down the same road with Shearer. There is no evidence that Shearer will be a good manager but no matter he is a Geordie so everything will be fine.
The Newcastle fans need to start thinking with teir heads and not their hearts if they are not to go the same way as Leeds United.

While I never thought Keegan was 'the second coming' I also think that if he'd been left to get on with the job we might have got somewhere.
I'm thinking with my head Luxor..It's just a pity that a lot of others don't.

Agree totally.
I can't stand Dennis Wise, but there are plenty of reasons to dislike the little goblin rather than just because he's from London.
It was a ridiculously small-minded attitude, and it's put every manager they've had in recent years under intolerable pressure.

You're welcome Thumbs Up, it's down to how the whole season went you survived. Yes you had the bad run of form in the second half of the season but the first half is what was the main factor in keeping you there. Even Fergie smiled when you heard you was staying up Big Grin.

He did indeed! Phil Brown and him a mates so there was a bit of fergie luck there I think!

Man U fans were absolutely fab too, they were behind us all the way!! cheering when Newcastle scored that own goal and they even stayed to cheer when we stayed up! It was one of the greatest days at the KC yet. Big Grin

Big Grin, the only thing he did what was bizarre this season was when he did the team talk with the players on the pitch. True Nod, he's done a great job and Hull can be proud.

who do you think will go lacey????......glad you had a good day xxx

I know spongey, we have a hell of a lot of work to do and even more than that lessons to learn from our first season in the prem.

I think Michael Turner may go, I so hope he doesn't but he's a great player.

To be honest it really depends on who Browny brings in, I think Giovanni may go again I hope he doesn't.

Jimmy Bullard will be playing next season which is a bonus.

We have no strikers though, so we must do somehting about that asap because its been our downfall.

Personally I am keeping everything crossed that Fraiser Campbell comes back - he's ace and I loved him playing for city last season.
