The swallows and seagulls are having a real feast.

Yes, all of a sudden - millions of them (Worcestershire).

Theres loads here, just been attack on the way to the shop

Surely the temperature is not the same all over the country on exactly the same day or is it just about the time the 'eggs' hatch and nothing to do with the weather

Been troubled with flying ants on and off all summer.

Oh, and a word of warning, don't spray Raid if you have a laminated flooring.

It is strange - they started appearing around lunch time here - then there were literally thousands and I noticed them when walking the dog too - loads of them

haven't a clue, just told my mum that there was loads and she had to get off the phone to go and shut her windows, she hates them

I`m sure its usually mid July when they swarm like that. They`re later this year. In folk lore it may mean something.

I had one get in my hair today in town. I managed to flick it out ok but my head still feels itchy. They are a real pest here in the Midlands today, they seem to be everywhere.

I too thought it was usually a lot earlier in the year when they swarmed.
What could it all mean

Just read something saying they swarm when the temperature goes up (it has been very humid today) and thats why they are associated with thunder storms, cos you often get thunder with high temps.

I had them in my flat yesterday. Noticed a few in my hallway (g/f flat). THEN I spotted a load more crawling around the doorframe of my airing cupboard. I have a phobia of ANYTHING like that. I phoned round a few people and nobody could come over IMMEDIATELY to help me. I was so distraught, I phoned a pest control company and they couldnt come out immediately either. They said that the best thing to do was to vacuum them up - the vaccuum was IN the cupboard full of these ants. I tell u I cried like a baby absolutely pathetic. I finally got hold of a neighbour... he thought someone had died!!! What a hero - he saved me That was YESTERDAY - so are they still around today then?

My goddaughters garden was swarming with them the other week. Really big as well.

I went to the shop I was wearing pale blue trousers and the ants were crawling on my trouser legs ,I thought I was seeing things there were swarms of them

We've had a few today here in South London but not loads....there's normally tons of birds flying about eating them on the day but none today so we must have much more to come.

Daughter just said she's seen the odd isolated ant hill with a few swarming. (we're North Essex)

But I agree... there must be more to come. Its been almost unbearably 'muggy' here today, so I am quite surprised it hasn't happened.
