I feel and know your pain, Ditty

We have loads of various species of lillies around the garden but I have 4 pots which were planted in memory of my dog.  Yeah, I know, I'm a sad sack.  But I loved my girly and wanted to have something 'special' as a memory because she loved our garden.

So, these 4 tubs and me had had an ongoing battle for the past 6 or so years.

I will NOT be defeated!  In fact I am permanently on 'Lily Watch'.

And I'm winning.

Like a stealthiest stealthy person I sneak up and view the plants from an incognito position.  I then get my spray gun and spray the SOIL first and then go on the attack.  I squirt the !*@k#rs and have been know to physically catch them and then exact a violent wrathful vengence upon them.

NONE escape

They vex me deeply.  But I am free of the blighters.

Apart from that, I find gardening very calming...

What's not to love about ANY flowers lol, they're ALL a masterpiece of nature

awww Cosi...     I love that you have the lillies in memory of your dog (gotta lump in my throat reading that)... 

and..  well done you!!   KEEP VIGILIANT!!    I managed it when I was on beetle watch...  & yes I used to ninja up on them too     

But it only took one year with me not keeping ontop of it for them to win the battle!!

Lily Beetles are the only insect I murder on sight  (well...   aphids kinda get it too)

oh & them beetles with the long snout...  the ones that eat the roots of your plants  (too early for me to remember their name)

It's not easy, Ditty but I'm obsessed with the 4 tubs.

It's like a personal insult..!

Had a look earlier today and some of the other lillies in the borders aren't doing too good.  I suspect bug sabotage   And my dahlias are looking a bit dodgy too

Stealth patrol starts again tomorrow.

ooh actually...   after I had deprived them of lilies it was my dahlia's that they seemed to go on!

The RHS reckon that although they will have a nosh on plants other than lilies & fritillaries, they won't actually lay their eggs & breed on other plants.

I think they credit them with too much intelligence...  

If I get my way they won't be laying eggs anywhere

Well yes I'd agree with that lol, another case of when humans shouldn't interfere with nature

I'm off to the Chelsea Flower Show with my mum and mum-in-law later. I'm strangely looking forward to it even though I have almost no interest in gardens whatsoever.

You weren't kidding. Between my 2 Queens, they must have spent about a couple of hundred quid between them. I really enjoyed the day and the slap up dinner at Bluebird was the icing on the cake (had some cake too).

Sounds a lovely day, Suzy.  Did you get anything for your garden at all?
