Oh its been really muggy here today, then we had a storm, hailstones as big as golf balls (well nearly)
I think it's about now they should be trotting off.
I hate flies

I spray Raid on the pvc window frame and it seems to do the trick I very seldom ever see a fly in the house
What's Raid??? Tell me morequote:Originally posted by Marguerita:

Flies are the downside to any nice day. I hate spraying them though as they seem to wildly contort in the air and choose the exact moment they are above my head to drop to their untimely demise.
Then of course I freak out, dancing around like I'm on acid whilst feverishly bashing at my head.
Nope, flies sure aren't for me!!

Thanks Marge, I'll try that? is it safe for animals?
They drive me insane. I have to cover everything up. They get in the bins and lay their eggs and then you have maggots

Scotland is crap
get yourself some citronella candles or mozzie coils & if you have your doors & windows open. Doors put those dangly things on & windows if you've got venetian blinds keep them down but open. Also spray bug spray around windows & doors. That should help.
I can't use spays because of my parrots. Citronella candles also for the same reason and they are bad for humans too. They should only be used out of doors.
I have a blue fly zapper in my kitchen and don't have any problems with flying insects.

i have one of those too bb, they are very efficient but dont keep them near food counters as the exploding flies can leave bits on your worktops.
i also have an high voltage "tennis racket" 3 layers of mesh, outer 2 are -ve with the inner one +ve swing it and any flying bug hits the wires and explodes in a blue flash as 1000v atomises it, great entertainment runs of 2 "D" cells and a bank of capacitors to ramp the voltage.
Would someone out there please invent a permanent fly killer, we are being driven mad with them. My next door but one neighbour is running a chicken farm in a domestic 25ft x 100 foot garden, next door to him is Ann ( Sadly as nutty as a fruitcake) and even the rubbish men have refused to remove her rubbish as there are maggots crawling out of her bags, in my Kitchen I have a permanently wired to the mains fly zapper, the same as they have in supermarkets, I 'm sitting here typing with 3 citronella candles burning ( indoors) when they are for external use only, I've got cottton wool soaked in Lavender oil in a pot, the flies are super effing human, even had them in February when we had 2ft snow in the garden. I've googled everything with no luck.

If it's really that bad then why not buy some fly screens? They are quite inexpensive and easy to fit. The flies cannot get past them. You can cut them to fit any window and door.

I've got them on my conservatory doors, but I'm a smoker so everytime I go out the living room doors into the garden hundreds of flies are back in the house, it's seriously doing my head in. Had two humping on my computer screen today, I didn't even know flies humped.
