What old films would you love to see remade and given a modern look.

Mines is not all that old but I would love to see Back to the future remade, what with all the modern technology I think it would be fantastic

Jason and the Argonauts & Clash of The Titans, they could work wonders with the special effects these days...I loved them as a kid...

Sam Worthington plays Perseus. If you haven't heard of him, you soon will: he was in "Terminator Salvation", and will be in "Avatar", which comes out later in the year.

I cant think, off the top of my head, of a remake that's improved on the original. As Zaphod pointed out, the King Kong remake wasn't a patch on the original. Anybody got an example of a remake that was better than the original?

I think it was Michael Caine who said he wished they'd remake the films that weren't that good first itme round, rather than continually remake classics. This is essentially my view.

I can understand the argument for remaking special effects-laden films using modern techiques, but even then classics like "King Kong" and the Harryhausen films have a style and character all of their own. I'm rather biased on the issue, but I know I'm not alone in considering Lucas' constant fiddling with the "Star Wars" effects to be a big mistake...

I know DiD, but like Eugines Lair says they do have a character (and charm) all of their own.

I think the films I would like to see remade are ones from books I have read where they have done a very bad or incomplete job on the story.
Or just to see how they would remake them.

Is there any particular films you thought were bad that could maybe remade much better nowadays.

It does seem pointless remaking films that are classics, like The Wizard of OZ, Gone With The Wind, A Wonderful Life etc.

The only one I can think of is Cronenbergs remake of The Fly, although the original is still satisfyingly creepy.

I'd like Peter Jackson to remake The Keep since Micheal Mann refuses to release a proper cut of his version. Still a great film though.
