I enjoyed Hunger Games. Well acted, shot and a good story. The books good too.

Ha, i don't think we're ever going to agree on a film Renton

Come on HUNGER GAMES is slow, silly costumes and plain ludicrous story line

Saint

Renton, next time you watch a film, why not try and pay attention instead of just looking at the pretty pictures

Admittedly the book gives a bit more detail, but i thought they did a great job at adapting it.

Oh and didn't see your 2nd, persistent, response about me being scared. No I wasn't, the title is very misleading. Its not a horror/scary movie at all. More of a thriller, coming of age, mystery, drama....if there's ever such a thing.

Blimey! I don't spend my life on here you know.

Anyway the whole 'silly costumes and hair' is for them to make an impression. The whole thing is a TV Show, a bit like Big Brother.  The more outlandish their costumes, the more attention they get, which earns them "Sponsors" which allows them to receive more and better packages to help their survival.

The costumes are for the razzle dazzle of the t.v Show, they did explain it in the film.

Think about some of the housemates that have entered the house in their stupid costumes. Its all for the show of it all.

I'm talking about the people that live in the Capitol

Its the style of the film. Its set in the future. Actually its quite reminiscent of films from the 70's that were set in the future.

Plus its called make believe and imagination....y'know like a lot of films, even that Number 4 film you like.

Rawky-Roo

its a fantasy film, with fantasy-esque visions and imagery of an alternate future.

It also shows great contrast between the capitol nobles and the lower class citizens that live in the districts.

The bright extravagant colours of the capitol versus the drab muddy colours of the districts. The capitol is run by money so they can afford to look extravagant and 'ridiculous', where as the district citizens live in potato bags.

The capitol relish the t.v show, they watch it for enjoyment. The districts watch it in hope that the victor is one of theirs so they can receive food etc.

So it does serve a purpose, to emphasise the different lifestyles, cultures and classes with the world.

I just find it odd that the people in the districts are blamed for rebellion and the Capitol people look down upon them and will punish them for that.

And then the people from the Capitol enjoy bloody violence via a gameshow... when they are trying to suggest they are a better people

Perhaps an analogy cud be the Roman Empire and Christian sacrafices?

Its not totally unbelievable.

Plus it is only a film.

Titanic deserves its place

Don't think Avatar does - its very much like Pocahontas

Haha, again different opinions. I find Titanic horrendously overrated, although I didn't think much of Avatar either.

I saw Battleship last week with the kiddies.  Wasn't overly impressed.  I was expecting something as epic as Transformers (geez I love that film!) but it was just 'okay'.  My 5 year old was terrified at some parts though so I had to take him outside to calm him down and bribe him with slush puppies to go back in.  He didn't like the *don't want to say coz I don't want to spoil it* parts and hid behind his coat when they were on!

The popcorn was great though, I had a blister on my tongue coz there was so much salt on it.

If anyone has seen in, please don't give anything away. Its one of THOSE kind of films

I haven't seen it, but want to. Don't even watch the trailer, Rawky - it gave away too much to me already!

Hope so! I await your spoiler-free review

Not sure I'll get to see it at the cinema because I really want to see the Avengers film that's out soon, don't think I can go twice in two weeks. Batman's out soon too, can't wait

Time and money, things I don't have a lot of at the moment! It's a shame Orange Wednesdays aren't valid every day

Oh my days, oh my days, oh my days.

I have just come back from seeing The Cabin in the Woods. I can't say too much because it would really spoil the film, lets just say it is one of the most amazingly FUN films I have ever seen.

If you're a fan of the horror genre then this is a film you must see.  Its made by the creator of Buffy and Angel, so expect that kind of dark humour to it.

If you're open minded GO SEE IT! (and don't download it ya cheap skivvys)

If you're not open minded go and watch something generic like American Pie Reunion.

Rawky-Roo

Avengers Assemble is also directed by Buffy and Angel creator Joss Whedon

Can't wait to see it! If I get a chance to see Cabin in the Woods I will definitely do it.

Over the weekend I saw Melancholia, which I found really interesting. It's a film of two parts, personally I preferred the second part. Hadn't seen a Lars Von Trier movie before this, it was certainly an experience!

Also saw Stay, a beautifully-shot film from 2005 starring Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts and Ryan Gosling. Psychological and twisty......just how I like my movies. Gosling is just heart-breaking as the central character Henry.

Both are movies for open minds.
