Noooo don't change the theme... I like it
Lori, as a result of the separation of Gagajoyjoy from Livecloud, although the searching for comments facility from the Explore function is available on Livecloud, it will no longer pick up Gagajoyjoy comments.
You did indicate to me that there would be an equivalent facility on Gagajoyjoy, but I cannot find it. The Activities option merely lists threads in order from most recent posting backwards, and has no searching on comments facility.

As has already been reported, quoting currently does not work in IE.
As a short term fix for those affected, try highlighting the text to quote, press Ctrl-C to copy, then in the Post Reply Box press Ctrl-V to paste. As this will come up as part of the main post rather than in a quote box, I suggest starting the quote with say "Quoted from name"

Lori... just to let you know I still can't quote on Safari, finding the new colours very hard on my eyes, not to say depressing
I like the colour theme but it's not good for my eyes after a few mins .. am having to squint a lot which leads to headaches for me. .
plus everything appears dulled down too..
is there anyway we can change the theme via our control panel please.. I know the option isn't there now, not that I can see anyway, but can you add one and add some of the themes available on LiveCloud control panel please? ta muchly

oh and while I'm here and having a moan can you reduce the number of posts per page too please, considering the new quoting facility requires you to drag the reply box all over the page to quote anything..
and also can you arrange so the thread starter's name is shown again in the title. .[not that I know who anybody is now with all these Xmas names] but Avi's are just colour splodges to me and my rubbish eyes and mean nowt..
and yeah I know I could use my reading glasses but they don't work on my puter screen cos it's too far for reading glasses and not far enough for my other seeing int he distance type glasses. .

Like above I find the colours and the spots in the background are affecting my eyes and giving me a headache, would be lovely if it could be changed to nice bright colours as it was before

Provided the reply box doesn't cover the text you want to quote, you don't need to move it. Open the reply box first, scroll down or up the page to where you want to quote, highlight that text, then scroll back to the reply box, and click on the quote icons. Yo can drag the reply box as you said, but that is time consuming. When I scroll, I use the middle scrolling button on my mouse as that's easier than clicking on the scroll bar at the side. By the way, the page up and down buttons do not work properly to move the page up and down when the reply box is open. They do when it isn't open.
This is a follow up to my earlier query just over 2 hours ago.
Lori, I see that you have posted elsewhere that you can search on comments from the Search box, but where is this search box on Gagajoyjoy for instance?

Loving the new color theme.

whether I drag the reply box or leave it behind I still have to scroll to the bottom or top to open it, then scroll back up to highlight the text I want to quote cos it doesn't stay highlighted while you are scrolling to get to the reply button, then scroll back down to the posting box to click the 'quotes' widget or bring the box with me when I scroll. .it is not user friendly. . especially now there are more posts per page.. there are a lot of users with fingers and hands that are older and not as supple as they once were and some with arthritis too no doubt which makes this kind of method more painful for the hands.... .
.a 'quote post' button is however user friendly and the norm for most if not all other forum formats I have ever come across.. in fact if I was a white or black box tester [can't recall which one it is now the info has fallen out of my brain] for the user friendliness of this product I would put this on the 'think again' list..
oh and when I scroll I use the middle button on my mouse too. .isn't that what it is there for? Would think most people even the very un IT peeps know that
or I use the scrolling wheel on my keyboard if I want to rest my hands but it isn't a clickable thing just a scroll wheel..

I'd love a brighter colour on here if possible.

I agree that it would be better if we could see the name of the topic starter by their avatar.
But PLEASE leave the colour scheme as it is - I think it looks so much smarter than before. And I love the little circles down the sides But the ninja smilie doesn't show up very well on this colour scheme (on the darker coloured posts) - could he be changed to another colour - maybe a nice shade of pink or purple?
Really struggling with the new colour scheme - not very easy on the eyes and rather depressing. Sorry to be a misery but .....................it's incredibly drab and dreary!
I agree about the colour. . it may look nice but it's a bugger on the eyes ..for some of us anyway..
please can we have an option for theme colours in our control panels so those that like the black and grey can keep it if it doesn't feck with their eyes ..[lucky sods] and those that are having problems reading with it and getting headaches [like I am ] can pick something more suited to their eyes.. I am having to HL the text in posts in order to read some of them. .tis the grey band ones causing the most problems.. and those where people have changed the font colours too. .they are just big bright blobby blurs.. . .
bluddy frustrating and now I am in a mood cos I having a stinking headache because of it..
foruming isn't meant to be this much hard work is it?

I think it would be the best solution if we could have the option of changing the colours to suit our individual preferences. I always found that the old colours made my eyes go a bit funny after a while, and apart from that I really loathed the colours . Personally, I couldn't have come up with a colour scheme that I like more than this if I'd tried.
Black on white, White on black or White on grey...all works for me...a bit like reading a newspapers
Apart from the colour being depressing, it gives me a dull headache.
Some people with eyesight problems are struggling with it Lori
This is a quote from Kaytee:
"I have sight problems and this colour is far too difficult for me to see and read......so I'm gone until it changes, or forever"
You can`t please all of the people all of the time but I think this is a problem.
Hope we can get it sorted

Agree with this.
I can cope with the grey colours (don't particularly like them though!) but others are having a real problem with it.
Those that like it can keep it, whilst the rest of us can find a skin which is more preferable to our own needs.

that would be fabby I really can't use websites with light text on dark background, it hurts my eyes If we had black as the default and a choice of skins would be great
oh Olly, its the black band thats worse for me
Lori, please please please can you change the forum colour away from this black/grey scheme. it's so depressing.
Thanks
I agree with Veggie Lori..... I am having real trouble with it sight-wise And if anyone on here suffers from SAD ........

The colours are making the words seem to bleed into each other so I can't read it very well and its a migraine waiting to happen..also I still have'nt found my stolen dialogues, they're not on LC or here....
Stonks I found my dialogs on LC ..by pure fluke
I posted this in one of the colour poll threads....
On colours - I have had to gen up on accessibility - it's part of my job.
Any colour schemes that are too contrasting eg blue text on yellow background () are a no-no.
Go to any site trying to flog you summat - sites where they don't want to put people off visiting their site - and you will find colour schemes that don't cause problems for the majority eg dark text, white background - at least in the main reading pane.
In my experience, peeps who use other colour schemes are new to creating websites and get carried away with all the colour options available to them. After a while, they realise the error of their ways!!
Addendum: That last sentence was a generalisation - not suggesting the person who came up with this particular scheme is new to website design. However, I would hazard a guess that they have good eyesight (I haven't and I find this too much!) and are of a sunny diposition and immune from these depressing shades of grey!
Edit: I have just read that Ted has posted on the Home page that there will be a new colour scheme each day and then a vote after a week or so.

Lori, this colour scheme is dreadful. You'll get hauled over the coals by all manner of website 'accessibility' bodies. Not the least the RNIB.
It makes the writing all fuzzy for one thing.

Well I bloody hope this one doesn't win! I look forward to tomorrow ...............things can only get better IMO.
Where do you vote?
I don't find it depressing but the white text on black background is very harsh on my eyes!

The colour is depressing ,but more important to me is my eyesight, this definately is a strain on my eyesight for sure.

Ted will put up a poll when the time comes.
On a positive note...
I like the way the Featured Topics are now separated from the other Topics.

I know the current thing of the moment is the colour themes but can we address the reducing the number of posts per page thing and the dragging or scrolling to find the reply box thingy to quote too.

True.
I don't understand why the banner has to be so big - that takes up a lot of space.

Moaning Mini here.....
I still can`t quote..what a pain
Another pain is that you have to have 2 windows open to access Hoopla (or whatever it`s called) /GaGa and LC. LC is the only way you can accces your site/dialogues/ticker etc. That`s an unneccesary inconvenience imo. Plus the ticker gives you no updates on what`s happening on Hoopla/GaGa or to a private site within LC that I`m a member of, all of which I used to be able to see on my ticker - before the change. All I`m getting now is Dave and Lori`s sites/ dialogues
Therefore... I have to open 3 windows to access what I used to be able to access before with one window.
It`s much less user friendly than it used to be
