I'm still having problems this morning, it's so slow and taking ages to post.


Using XP and Chrome

I`m getting this a lot..I think we all are Lori.
An internal server error occurred. Please try again later.
When I eventually get through the cogs are whirling most of the time.
I`m using the latest FF. I`ve had no problems on any other sites.
Hope you can sort it..thanks in advance

I'm having the same problems as Scotty ^^^^^ and I am using FF, too.

I suspect that the internal server errors, delays in accessing various threads, problems with spinning cogs on posting are all down to the same problem and has nothing to do with which browser members are using.

I think the problem is caused by Seattle's servers not being able to cope with the increased workload on them caused by substantially greater usgae by members due to Big Brother.

I did make a post on Feedback a day or so before BB started warning that because of BB there could be server problems with far more people trying to post at the same time.

Sorry--meant to post here, as well (I posted on the other thread).  We restarted a server last night, but it looks like it didn't do much good.  We're looking into WHY it didn't do much good, and hopefully we'll get this resolved.

What's happened to the Social Strata blog? There's only been two new topics in the last month ... it was great when it started, really interesting, but now it just seems to have fizzled out

Lori, there were only a few of us posting during the early of this morning (UK time)
and the problems were still the same.

I found it not to bad today but awful tonight it is so slow and posting is hit or miss..the cogs keep turning .. forever

We just bounced a server, but we got some info from the logs to try to figure out what's causing the problems.

I say "we", but I mean that in the royal way.  When *I* look at the logs, this happens to me -->

Just an extra little issue tonight (don't know if it is related to the recent problem discussed above) but when I click on "last reply" it does not take me there - it takes me to the top of the relevant page. It used to take me to the last reply, but now just to the top of the page.

"Last post" takes me to the last post.
So it is fine. (Quickest repair job ever.)

what i like abut this place is that even when it goes tits up and annoys the feck out of you, we can  get the mods to talk to us and get it sorted.

You can have a signature, but it shows up only when you start a topic.  It's not in the replies, and there's no way to change that.

You may have noticed that some people have changed their display names to indicate their favorite HM or whatever (just add it to your name--I'm not sure what the character limit is, but I bet you could find out )

I don't this is the case. I do have a signature, and if you look at a topic I've started such as the one at the top of the page re "Please read etc", my signature does not appear, and I'm not aware that they appear on any new topics started for quite some time.

Oh, you're right!  Guess I hadn't noticed that it had gone away....
