Fuzzbox - Jackie

classy

Isn't it just!

In case anyone's wondering, the song is meant to be a letter to the girls magazine "Jackie":

"Jackie, Jackie, help me do.
My Kevin has been untrue.
He's gone off with Sharon MacVey.
I don't think I can live for another day."

"son I'm 30, I only went with your mother cos she's dirty"

Kinky Afro Happy Mondays

Intro to Rubble to the Ritz by Arctic Monkeys:

Last night these two bouncers

And one of em's alright

The other one's the scary one

His way or no way, totalitarian

He's got no time for you

Looking or breathing

How he don't want you to
So step out the queue

He makes examples of you

And there's nowt you can say

Behind they go through to the bit where you pay

And you realize then that it's finally the time

To walk back past ten thousand eyes in the line

And you can swap jumpers and make another move

Instilled in your brain you've got something to prove

To all the smirking faces and the boys in black

Why can't they be pleasant?

Why can't they have a laugh?

He's got his hand in your chest

He wants to give you a Tupp

Well secretly I think they want it all to kick off

They want, arms flying everywhere and Bottles as well

it's just Something to talk about A story to tell, yeah

Athlete - wires, i think i like this one as my first baby was premature.

You got wires, going in
You got wires, coming out of your skin
You got tears, making tracks
I got tears, that are scared of the facts

Running, down corridors through, automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
I see hope is here, in a plastic box
I've seen christmas lights, reflect in your eyes

You got wires, going in
You got wires, coming out of your skin
There's dry blood, on your wrist
Your dry blood on my fingertip

Running, down corridoors through, automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
First night of your life, curled up on your own
Looking at you now, you would never know

I see it in your eyes, I see it in your eyes
You'll be alright
I see it in your eyes, I see it in your eyes
You'll be alright

Alright

Cut ups? Does that mean the way he used to write random phrases on cards and jumble them up to create lyrics?  I like that idea.

Tonight, my favourite lyrics are:

Callin' out around the world, are you ready for a brand new beat?
Summer's here and the time is right for dancin' in the street.
Dancin' in Chicago (dancin' in the street)
Down in New Orleans (dancin' in the street)
In New York City

All we need is music, sweet music,
There'll be music everywhere
There'll be swingin' swayin', and records playin,
Dancin' in the street

Oh it doesn't matter what you wear, just as long as you are there.
So come on every guy, grab a girl,
Everywhere, around the world

There'll be dancin', they're dancin' in the street.
This is an invitation, across the nation,
A chance for folks to meet.
There'll be laughin' singin', and music swingin'
Dancin' in the street

Philadelphia P.A., Baltimore and D.C now,
Can't forget the motor city,
All we need is music, sweet music
There'll be music everywhere
There'll be swingin' swayin', and records playin,
Dancin' in the street

Oh it doesn't matter what you wear, just as long as you are there.
So come on every guy, grab a girl,
Everywhere, around the world

They're dancin', dancin' in the street
Way down in L.A., every day they're dancin' in the street
Lets form a big strong line, and get in time,
We're dancin' in the street.
Across the ocean blue, me and you
We're dancin n the street

Dancing In The Street, written by Marvin Gaye, William Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter. Originally recorded by Martha & The Vandellas and released by Motown in July of 1964.

Cold Sweat

This always makes me laugh ...

Said she come from Rio

Lived on a mountain

I met her in Trafalgar Square

She was sitting in the fountain
She took off her hat

And she had lovely hair

Said she smoked marijuana

At the Coco Cabana there

South American lady

You've got that crazy beat

Brazilian beauty

With the flashing feet
We danced to the music

At the Mardi-Gras

Then jumped on the Concorde

You're so lah-di-dah

Si, siSi, siSi, si

Took her to a disco

In Battersea

I asked her to dance

And then she danced with me
And then I took a chance

Come home with me today

I live in France

We can get there B-E-A

Je suis un rock star

Je avais un residence

Je habiter la

A la south of France
Voulez vous

Partir with me?

And come and rester la

With me in France

But BEA's on strike

There's no planes flying

I can rent a motorbike

At least I'm trying
We could go on the hovercraft

Across the water

They'll think I'm your dad

And you're my daughter

Je suis un rock star

Je avais un residence

Je habiter la

A la south of France
Voulez vous

Partir with me?

And come and rester la

With me in France

I love listening to lyrics, despise lazy rhyming and for that reason Des'ree should have been banished from music for that terrible 'Life' song(perhaps she was banished, she hasn't been seen for a while has she, lol).

Anyway......

Shine the headlight
Straight into my eyes
Like the roadkill
I'm paralysed
You see through my disguise

At the drive in
Double feature
Pull the lever
Break the fever
And say your last goodbyes

Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever ever goes my way

One fluid gesture
Like stepping back in time
Trapped in amber
Petrified
And still not satisfied

Airs and social graces
Elocution so divine
I'll stick to my needle
And my favorite waste of time
Both spineless and sublime

Since I was born I started to decay
Now nothing ever ever goes my way

Oh ... I didn't even think of that

Though I don't think Jagger would like to be associated in any way with that song ^^^

I'm sure it was supposed to be based on Mick meeting Bianca for the first time  (i don't know where that came from.. it was lurking at the back of my mind somewhere)

Good call!!!

I lurve Placebo's lyrics!

Dirtyprettygirlthing

For my own reasons, one of my favourites:

I'm standing outside on the balcony
balloon man is passing below
making his way to the park by the church
he goes where the little ones go

balloon man's a little bit ragged
his glasses are slightly askew
one lens is cracked and shoes never match
he might have a screw loose or two

and you're so far away
on the other side of the world
I thought you might like to know
that balloon man lives in it too

his rig is a marvel of equipoise
Leonardo might've designed
bamboo for the wide horizontal
pine for the vertical rise

he's wearing in a flag-bearers harness
he's holding the whole thing aloft
balloons all arrayed, he's a one man parade
if he ran he'd surely take off

and you're so far away
on the other side of the world
I just thought you should know
that balloon man lives in it too

but it's cold up here on the balcony
and it's time that I went back inside
balloon man waits for the light at the corner
I'll watch til he goes out of sight

but there's a wind that whips round the corner
and he's having a hell of a time
he staggers and it looks like he might just go over
but balloon man he puts up a fight

and you're so far away
on the other side of the world
I just thought you should know
that balloon man lives in it too

Yes... I believe the idea originated from author William Burroughs.

"I'm an alligator, I'm a mama-papa coming for you
I'm the space invader, I'll be a rock 'n' rollin' bitch for you
Keep your mouth shut,
you're squawking like a pink monkey bird
And I'm busting up my brains for the words"

There are lots of lyrics I love, but I was listening to this today--

The Call up by the Clash

It's up to you not to heed the call-up
'N' you must not act the way you were brought up
Who knows the reasons why you have grown up?
Who knows the plans or why they were drawn up?

It's up to you not to heed the call-up
I don't wanna die!
It's up to you not to hear the call-up
I don't wanna kill!

For he who will die
Is he who will kill

Maybe I wanna see the wheatfields
Over Kiev and down to the sea

All the young people down the ages
They gladly marched off to die
Proud city fathers used to watch them
Tears in their eyes

There is a rose that I want to live for
Although, God knows, I may not have met her
There is a dance an' I should be with her
There is a town - unlike any other

It's up to you not to hear the call-up
'N' you must not act the way you were brought up
Who gives you work an' why should you do it?
At fifty five minutes past eleven
There is a rose...
Yeah!

The last lines of my favourite song ....................................I guess you've gotta know the whole story.

A Better Place To Be - Harry Chapin

And the little man, Looked at the empty glass in his hand.
And he smiled a crooked grin, He said, " I guess I'm out of gin.
And I know we both have been, so lonely. And if you want me to come with you, then that's all right with me. 'Cause I know I'm goin' nowhere and anywhere's a better place to be."

Favourite lyrics - Every day is exactly the same by Nine Inch Nails

I believe I can see the future
Because I repeat the same routine
I think I used to have a purpose
Then again, that might have been a dream

I think I used to have a voice
Now I never make a sound
I just do what I've been told
I really don't want them to come around
Oh, no

Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain
Every day is exactly the same

I can feel their eyes are watching
In case I lose myself again
Sometimes I think I'm happy here
Sometimes, yet I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started
But I can tell you exactly how it will end

Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain
Every day is exactly the same

I'm writing on a little piece of paper
I'm hoping someday you might find
Well, I'll hide it behind something
They won't look behind

I am still inside here
A little bit comes bleeding through
I wish this could have been any other way
But I just don't know, I don't know,
What else I can doâ€Ķ

Every day is exactly the same
Every day is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain

Every day is the same!
