I only actually hate one person in this world and that is my Father - in - Law - as I said in another thread - I am very unforgiving - I hate him .END OF!

My father-in-law passed away on December 30th last year. He was an amazing person, I loved him to bits. His death has left a real void in all our lives and it's been really difficult to lift my husband and kid's spirits when I feel as bereft as they do. It's slowly getting easier but when I sense my husband's sadness it breaks my heart.

I would have loved to have met my father in law. He died 25 years ago, but he was just like yours Croc. Brilliant D.I.Yer with the tourettes. He could even put swear words in the middle of words. i.e. (and I quote): "Elecbloodytricity" when discussing the fuel bill.

That's really lovely - I would have loved my kids to have another lovely grandad (my dad was a lovely grandad but died young aged 58) My FIL is a greedy money grabbing horrible person. My story is far too long but in short - he ripped his son (my husband) off for thousands in a business venture. He lives in retirement in Portugal with very, very few friends ans a family that have no time for him.
What goes around comes around .................he is a sad, lonely old man.

No problem pirate. I'm upset about it, but not because of your thread, too many other things remind me of him at the moment, one of my kids even has the same infectious bellowing laugh as he does. Unfortunately, it's on of my daughters so it's not very ladylike

It's lovely that there are really nice FILs out there. I don't think my OH would call my dad 'great' but least he doesn't ring him up and talk utter shite with the woe is me act that my FIL gives me. No matter what is going on with anyone else he always turns the convo to how badly he's suffering and how no-one cares about him. F*ckin assface.

I never met my FIL, by all accounts he was a lovely, lovely man, (unlike my MIL, horrible ol cow, even to this day my ex pretends to her that we split by mutual consent rather than the truth that I left, 'cos of what she'd have to say, and that was 21 years ago!!!) My next 'FIL' (and MIL,) were bloody brilliant, loved 'em both: he was real old school, an RAF pilot, fabulous and heartbreaking 'war' stories that I couldn't get enough of. Even 'though my relationship with their son came to an end, they both stayed in touch, regularly, until the day they died

You know, as much as I try to understand it, there really is nothing that annoys me more than 'me, me, me, poor old me,'......Well, how about trying to being kind and thoughtful and giving to others? You reap what you sow

Can be a curmudgeon, but my MIL shows me how to treat one. 
Mine died a few years ago. He was ok, we didn't really see much of him. He was one of those blokes who didn't know how to have a relationship with his adult son. So they didn't.

My father in law is fantastic...he's been such a help with the house...he's into all things electrical, so everytime something goes bang, we phone him up and he fixes it. We'd be lost without him
