On a dead dead big poster I passed on m'way home. He was doing a Victory sign. I object to these people taking the country's hero in vain.

Churchill was Conservative! Wink

This is like being at school......
.... and was he exclusively Conservative young squiggle?

No sir! But his main career was as the finest Conservative leader this country has ever seen! And may I add he was a leader for all of the people not just the people who voted him in and I wish I could say the same for the Labour leaders but I just can't sadly Frowner

However he led the national government 1940-1945 which contained the best politicians of the day including Labour. Clem Atlee Artie Greenwood and even Harry Wilson.
He was unelected too!
Not a lot of people know that.

I hear what you say but what a great man he was, the war would have been lost without him. He picked up the people and motivated them during the war when we stood alone. Anyway, gotta go, how were the parents?

For all the Thatcher haters, Mark Thomas has started a protest against the state funeral policy for her..... http://www.markthomasinfo.com/...updates/thatcher.asp

Is that the best he can do nowadays? Can you remember when he was funny?

He certainly seems to have lost his touch. He just seems to organise a lot of demos nowadays. I used to find him hilarious, when he had his show on TV.

There's a guy whose name escapes me but who speaks with an East End accent. He did a really funny series on great political philosphers of our time on the tellybox.
It was the best political stuff on the box since the Marxist Magician.

Hope to speak to you again soon Liverpool Lass. Yeah, I do think Dave gets it don't you?

There is a feeling of staleness as in '97. If he plays his cards right he should be OK. I just don't like the expression "Time for a change!" when I know it just means everything will be the same as in the last 30 years, only mine host has changed.

That's very thin gruel considering all the armwaving he's been doing over the past few weeks. How will fixed terms make the slightest difference to political life in this country? I think Alan Johnsons support for proportional representation is much more significant in terms of reflecting the true wishes of the people, and if Gordon has the nous to grab the straw then it might just give him something solid to go into the election with.

I know just how you're feeling ..............i cannot even begin to explain or describe the optimism I felt whe tony Blair took over number 10. It didn't really amount to much .................I think it's all a matter of beauracracy etc. - somehow there really isn't the freedom to cast all sleaze/corruption etc. aside. I suppose ..................it really is a 'Gentlemans Club' and no one wanted to rock the boat.

It's all sad ........very, very sad .............hope some good comes of it all.
