My local farm shop is Gurjit in the newsagents. They sell frozen carrots

I dont think I have one

There's a farmers Market on a Friday and sat which I like to go to whenever I'm off.

sometimes....    I will for very fresh new potatoes...   and ours has fab range of chutneys & a deli that is very good.

The everyday veg are dead pricey though...    the carrots are beautiful to look at...   bugs bunny carrots...  only the green top bits are all trimmed & they are bundled with a bit of string....

they don't taste any different though.

Our farm shop also has an outlet for one of the trade butchers...   we use that for happy meat when we can afford it...   oh & belly pork..   or if we have any other needs that are a bit out of the norm for tesco.   (chicken livers!!! )

The farm shop is normally full of smug sanctimonious 10th generation village folk...  talking loudly about the evils of Tesco...   and all that malarky... whilst at the same time looking at anyone who walks in that may not be local born & bred with distrust & scorn!     Tis why I always go with hubby, who is fab in these situations... with his big boomy voice & "I'm from London, my how quaint & twee your little hamlet is... is this cows milk or goats milk" comments!

My town has a Farmers market every Friday but I find the produce quite pricey so rarely shop there.

Yes! It's nearer than any other shop.

I get the best veg & eggs from peoples houses... when they put a sign up saying "eggs for sale" etc.

Took me ages to get the bottle to stop & buy from them though.

there is one house that has a huge field attached to it...    I am pretty certain they are growing all potatoes in it...   I keep driving past waiting for them to put a sign up saying they are for sale.

Some of the houses sell stuff by putting it out at the front... with an honesty box for payment!     Last time I got eggs from them there was about £40 in the box.     I paid for my eggs and drove off congratulating myself on moving here...    in the last area I lived the eggs, money, box, stand & sign would have disappeared within the first hour

We don't have a farm shop but we do have a farmers market which I buy a lot from   although they are more expensive than a supermarket at least you know where the stuff is from 

At home home, we have a fab farmers shop which is just across the rd from my aunts, so it's a two birds one stone shop.

No farm shops near us but we do go to Farmers Markets.
The stuff tends to be a bit pricey, but good.

We have a good one. Everything`s fresh from local farms and surprisingly cheap! 
Great friendly service too..they give you recipes and tips etc...
I use it all the time.  

Like others, I don't have a farm shop near me, but do go to the farmers market. I make a bee-line for The Watercress Man ... watercress scones, bread, biscuits etc. Utterly utterly delish

I don't have one near me but i do buy from the  fruit and veg man on the market and he his alot cheaper than Tescos etc

Yes, wherever possible I like my veg to have muck on it and not to look all perfect and standardised and I like to 'buy local' The quality of the meat and game in mine is fantastic

I live in the oldest recorded market town...    when I  moved here there was a thriving market that would set up on the high street...   I used to get fruit & veg from there.   But then the council decided to move the market to a designated site (outskirts of town...  in between a car park & the bus park) and for it to be a 6 day a week thing.  

Meanwhile they initially pedstrianised the high street... then they altered it and made it one lane one way... then they decided to change the way of the one way... then they semi pedestrianised it, then they made it one way as it was the first time.

there is now talk of it being pedestrianised again!   within 15 years this is.

meanwhile the market is slowly dying...   no one goes there anymore...  its more like a car boot sale really.

I dread to think what the changes to the high street have cost.   

Oh.. & business rates have nearly doubled apparently.

I get all my veg at night straight from the field and cut out the middle man.

I will be sorting out my veggie patch again this year too Velvet (its been overtaken by nature in the 12 months I was out of action before recent op)... 

However, I am not sure I actually save any money (fairly sure it actually costs me more money)

We have a fabulous farm shop a few miles away which we go to when we can afford to!!! The stuff is gorgeous but soooo expensive. They do a scrummy range of homemade frozen ready meals...but the family size lasagne is £18....it only feeds 4 as well.........but I will admit that we did buy the chocolate desert they do as a special treat.....£12...it was lovely, but can't justify it again!!! Some people spend £100's at a time in there and when I see them I have major shopping envy....especially when I think of my Tesco chicken in the fridge as they waltz out with their 'so happy it's still smiling' chicken....grrrrrrr.


Mind you....I bought their jute shopping bag with the posh logo....so even when I'm buying from the market in town, I can at least pretend!!!!

I LOVE our local farm shop, Its about a mile down the road and is one of those pick your own places. The shop has some stuff already picked and bagged. It mainly does vegetables and fruit but does the odd frozen (home made then frozen) pie and pastries.

The veg there is sooooo much cheaper than the supermarkets, its a real money saver. Plus I really can taste the difference in all the veg especially the potatoes. Supermarket maris piper potatoes are way more waxy in comparison. The farm shop maris pipers make perfect crispy and crunchy roast potatoes and have a fantastic soft sweeter taste.

Yep 100% the farm shop is better all round.
