For example - that box on the right of the screen - its far too wide

Does it have to be sooo big??

In a word .....yes ....hope that helps See , now you feel right at home , don't you

 You got him there, Baz.

Sorry Sainty.

 very good

. . .but i hate it - it's too spread out - i can hardly see other posts

A concise forum lets you see several things at once - instead i;m scrolling and scrolling

I did see somewhere that you can choose how many posts you see on each page, to stop so much scrolling but I can't find it now.

Once there are enough replies on a thread, the option to set how many replies per page is shown at the foot of each page. I think there has to be at least 20 replies on a thread before this option appears. Once there are over that number you have the option of 20 or 40 replies per page. The options increase so that for threads with many replies you get the option of 20, 40, 100 or 200 replies per page. I doubt if many people would want 200 replies on a page as that would be a lot of scrolling. But it would have its use if you were wanting to print out a thread. (There used to be a printer friendly format option but that's no longer considered needed).

Checking the new forum out..........it's a bit spread out now, but clearer

It's spread is exacctly the same for me.

Blank column on the left, then the posting column, then the'calandar' column and finally another blank column. No different to before, except in the design of the columns' contents,

Ditto for me EFFT .....the only real difference for me ( as I post from my iPad ) is that it's much clearer
