I think you may fail to raise an argument, although they do happen here now and again. We generally manage to sort out our disagreements eventually.

Thank you Xochiquetzal, if I've spelled your name correctly?

Do you like ABBA?

No. It's really me. The real Peter Dow.

Crosswords, scrabble, countdown etc. not my forte, sorry.

My diversions are computer war games mostly.

You spelt it perfectly. I appreciate that courtesy, thank you. Sadly, no, I don't like Abba but we have a very active music thread here.  If you start from the beginning you may get an idea of what we're like in the musical tastes we share.

Peter Dow is single and looking for a woman

Welcome to the forum though, Peter

Well I didn't ask you if you liked ABBA. My question was to Xochiquetzal whose name reminded me of "Chiquitita" in the ABBA song of that name, which I like.

My question to you would be "Do you have a drink problem?". I'm teetotal these days.

This is to all the female members here. Do you have a compelling desire to breed like there was no tomorrow, like Nadya Suleman, Octomom?

Now that's a woman who knows what her womb is for!

And here's a woman who knows what her brain is for.

Anyway, as you can tell, I may have the forum posting thing sorted but relationships with women, career etc, not so much.

Well I'd rather ask about your name. Google says -

In Aztec mythology, Xochiquetzal ... was a goddess associated with concepts of fertility, beauty, and female sexual power.

Which for Aztecs, was this

but for me, female fertility, beauty and power are admirably represented by the women I have already posted - ABBA singers, Octomom and Condi but not so clearly by an Aztec goddess I knew nothing of until I googled it there just now.

So would you like to explain your name and make your intentions clear?

I mean if you were my goddess does that mean you would bear my child, or not?

Why Farage would think Scotland would welcome UKIP's brand of thinly veiled English nationalism and hard right politics is beyond me.

Scotland totally rejected the greed-is-good ethos of Thatcherism that mostly served London and the Home Counties to the detriment of huge areas of the country.  Despite 13 years of Labour, Scotland still hates the Tories.

What plays well to the Blue Rinse Brigade in the Tory Home Counties is poison to Scottish voters.

Farage must be nuts to think Scotland would embrace a load of right wingers, who want to grab powers back from Europe, chiefly so they can impose right wing deregulation on British workers and dismantle the welfare state -not for the affluent old and likely UKIP voter, of course.  On top of that, UKIP want to bring back Scottish powers of self determination to Westminster.

I do find it amusing when the big Scotland v England "debate" comes up and a pic of Mel Gibson in Braveheart appears. A film so factually incorrect it's laughable. Who cares though when it's Mel Gibson painting his face blue and shouting about freedom in the worst Scottish accent ever. Next time put up a picture of Conor Macleod. There's about as much truth in that film as there is in Braveheart

Call me a silly old Marxist Structuralist but surely they knew exactly what they were doing, even if it didn't pay off. Nationalism can only unite people if there is a perceived enemy. Not that either of these two individuals are Bismarck like. So what better to have a pretend disagreement between these two arseholes. There's something in it for both if them.

I only looked at the first page. I didn't click on any links within it, and that was enough

apparently one of the guys arrested is English

'After gamely attempting to argue back, trying to hit back at the repeated accusations of racism and homophobia with protests of innocence, Farage finally had to admit his surprise. "We've never, ever, ever had this kind of response. Is this a kind of anti-English thing? It could be," he said to a reporter.

It wasn't. Not entirely. The protesters disagreed. Many said they were there to protest at Ukip's stance on immigration and the political backgrounds of Ukip's motley collection of local council candidates; others were there to protest against his party's obscure economic policies. There was no violence, no punches thrown, no missiles lobbed.'

I was listening to an SNP spokeswoman earlier who said she'd walked past the incident without fully appreciating what was going on, and she saw it at the time as just being another rowdy student protest. Now of course she's biased, but she has a point.

The fact is that Farage has had an extremely easy ride so far, both from the public and the press (and that includes the BBC, whom he's now having a go at). Campaigning politicians have to put up with that sort of reception all the time (and sometimes a lot worse), Farage has managed to escape it up till now, but when finally pressed with some difficult questions and people who disagree with him he panicked. To dismiss the protesters as "fascists" and "anti-English" is just as ridiculous as accusing the BBC of a "hate campaign" against UKIP...

Exactly!  Because the right wing media want UKIP to do well they are not being held up to any real scrutiny.  The BBC follows the lead of the Mail and Sun.  The fact that UKIP is a two man show has been ignored and continues to be ignored.

Farage is used to being lauded and applauded by an affluent but ignorant section of the electorate who are not interested in the nitty gritty of UKIP policy and won't be on the receiving end of the fall out of UKIP's agenda.

Farage has had a soft ride from the BBC but it is an article of faith among the right wing that the BBC is the broadcasting wing of the EU and Labour Party.  Farage just sounds like a loony BBC bashing DM reader, which shows that he has poor political judgement and perspective.

Sorry but i.m.o. GJ has picked on me and been the only one to ever make me feel uncomfortable on this forum. Taste of his own medicine might do him good.

So you've said previously Roger, and I thought that misunderstanding was all sorted. Even so, there's only one of you picking on the other and no doubt making them feel uncomfortable right now imo, and that's you on GJ. Out of order

How do you know? It went on for quite a while - and started out of the blue. I objected - but only after quite a while suffering in silence. I found it quite funny to see GJ be on the receiving end of similar behaviour.

I'm not bothered what your opinion is, as you don't know the situation well enough to be able to make a fair comment Supes.

Fms who dish it out should be able to take it back i.m.o.
