FANS' VICTORY AS BIG BRO TO GO LIVE AGAIN

BIG Brother chiefs are set to do a U-turn over the show’s live telly feed.

Channel 4 has decided that it will “review” its decision to cut the live streaming after a huge backlash from fans.

Viewers threatened to boycott Big Brother 10 after the 24/7 feed on E4 was slashed to a few hours overnight.

As a result ratings have taken a dive. Average viewing figures for the series are 2.4million – almost a million down on last year.

Last night the Daily Star confronted Channel 4 over the ratings and the live feed issue.

We asked if bosses would now reconsider their decision about the streaming.

And they admitted the matter will be looked into again for next year.

A show spokesman said: “We review plans and programming every year after each series.

“So yes we will also review streaming too.

“The proportion of fans who have been in touch with Big Brother regarding the live feed is small and wouldn’t account for a drop in viewership.”

Cash-strapped C4 claimed the feed was too costly and that only a few thousand people watched it.

However fans argued that hundreds of thousands tune in.

But the spokesman said: “Our official figures show that on average 38,000 people watched the late night streaming between midnight and 3am last year.”

C4 has invited fans to join a debate programme called The TV Show on Thursday, July 2, where BB10 and the loss of the streaming will be raised.

Last night freaky boxer Angel McKenzie, 36, and posh Freddie Fisher, 24, were facing eviction from the BB house.

And the rest of the day? So they choose the time slot with the lowest viewing figures? Or are they trying to say that this was the peak viewing? Pfffft. Confused

My thoughts exactly. I was always in bed then, it was during the day that I enjoyed watching it.

So why is that the time they've given us LF, doesn't make sense Confused Surely you'd give it when you had the highest audience.

What they seem to be missing is as everyone here has already said, late night feed is impossible as most people have to be up early.. but when there is constant live feed we tune in and out during the day, and on forum we can catch up with friends who have watched times we have missed... are they just pretending to be stupid or something!!! Honestly I am close to giving up watching as we are just getting the edited version and cannot by any stretch of the imagination get a real feel for who the HMs are!! beggers belief! Roll Eyes

they are really thick aren't they Roll Eyes

It's not down to how many watch LF, it's that those who do create the buzz that makes non watchers tune in to the HLs show and other programmes.

I've never watched LF, but reading about what happens on it from those who do is what makes it interesting and keeps me a fan...

and i'm sure that each person who does watch LF is responsible for keeping a little network of people interested in the show too,by spreading the news, which keeps overall viewing figures of the main show high

The production team must be total twonks not to realise this Roll Eyes

i loved to watch live feed in the day sometimes in the morning sometimes in the afternoon ,i do have commitments else where so i would dip in and out like most people do so the figures cannot be right so surely they should take that into consideration noone could watch 24/7

Totally agree, and not only buzz amongst the LF fans to the non LF watchers, but also in the press as well. Most of the interesting stuff happened on LF, l don't want to watch what they think is interesting.

Even when there was the 'red button' I still used to pay for the internet feed. I watched on the main PC mostly, but when I used the lappy I could take it in the garden during the day or in the evenings I could still sit with my husband in the living room while he was watching something else. Paying for live feed was worth it to me insomuch as it stopped my husband and I from being apart for three months solid - and just maybe, out of the divorce court Eeker Wink

As for Ch4 quoting viewing figures for midnight to 3am... Ridiculous! I've tuned in quite a few times and they've all been in bed! How crass of them to think people find this entertaining enough to stop them reaching for the off button! Maybe the reason they've treated us with utter contempt is because they think fans of the show are morons!

I'll believe their "U Turn" when I see it... Roll Eyes

I don't think whey will bring it back. C4s definition of "review" usually means the end of of it. C4 Paula stated earlier this year the Forum format were being reviewed and we all know what happened there.
