Although the youngest won't be drinking so he will definitely win!

I think he might be drinking if I suggest Jenga...

I think this is a no win thread tbh Rexi...   one of us suggests a game, someone else goes "nooooo, not that"

twill be a miracle if we agree on something

Dirtyprettygirlthing

no...   I actually think we will end up playing something like that Rexi..

we have a load of quiz games for the Wii & PS3...     I suspect we will end up playing some of those (like we do most years )

Cos like your 18 year old...   my 19 year & 15 year olds combined answer to every other suggestion I make have not been helpful

Dirtyprettygirlthing

I've waded through the price runner one, and an amazon list too...

will have a quick look at those other links MrsH (thank youxxx)

ermmm...   I have tentatively suggested card games (MrD & I used to have an ongoing gin rummy score, before the children took over our lives)...

but the boy just looked at me as though I had suggested we all sit round & eat his foot!

Does it not get you hellish mad though Kaffy. It does me! I play it on the tablet and you have to get the spelling and apostrophe's and alsorts correct

My family has played a word game every Christmas since the early 60s. It was called Starlog and is similar to the boardgame Mastermind which came out in 1970 but uses letters rather than coloured pegs.

One player decides on a word of 5 letters which are all different (such as PRICE). The other players have to work out what the word is and take turns to say a word to that person. If any of the letters are in the same position as the word that counts as a star. If any of the letters are in the word but in a different position that counts as a dot. The person who has decided on the word says how many stars and dots there are.

The winner of the round is the person who works out the correct word. In our family the person who thought they had the word would show it to the lead person who would say it's right so that the other players could keep on trying to work out the word. Once everyone had worked out the word (or given up), the next person would decide on a word to be worked out.

The only equipment needed is paper and pen/pencil. The game can be played with 4, 5, 6 or more letters but 5 seems to be best.

For anyone who likes logic and word games, this is one of the best games ever.

ah - I think you're thinking of a different game, Sprouty.   It's not just guessing logos, but it's a board/question game based on different categories.  the first one was based on logos - but they've got film and TV versions and stuff now - you'll see a card with four pictures on it and you need to guess films for example and answer questions on them. Or it might a single word like 'white' that links all the answers.   We like it.

Ditts - I think we like Articulate because we've got warped minds and we can guess stuff from totally unrelated clues.

It has been suggested we get a new board game...

We have already veto'd Monopoly, Risk, Scrabble, Balderdash, Cranium, Cluedo & Trivial Pursuits...

anyone got any recommendations?

(4 players, aged 15, 19, & two adults)

Coppit - up to 6 players.

Robo-Rally - 1 to 9 boards (or so) and I think up to 8 players.

I love party games

Me too Soozy - games like 'who am I' and good old charades are always good for a laugh

Unfortunately my lot (except one of my sons) have to have their arms twisted ............they love it in the end though

On Boxing Day I was knocking the next door neighbours asking them to write down film/book/play titles for charades. Neighbours are coming in for New Year - their middle son (age 17) is always p for a laugh - we can do some arm twisting together. Fun son has gone back to Manchester unfortunately Think he prefers Canal Street on NYE

hahaha - yes, I know what you mean 'oh no, count me out.' . then they get up and get into it and you can't stop them!   Never thought of getting titles down beforehand - that's inspired!    Aw... shame 'fun son' isn't going to be there with you - sure he'll be having a great time though!
