FACEBOOK: Unwanted friend acceptance

Over the past 2 weeks I've had 3 emails telling me that such-and-such has confirmed you as a friend on facebook. Okay....but I didn't ask to become their friend in the first place so why have they been given permission to look at my fb page and be in my friends list?? I don't get it

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'm changing my password on there just incase someone has been sneaking in and adding people but I highly doubt that.

The people who have been added are total randommers with no mutual friends of mine. And now FB won't bloody load for me to sort it out!

FB used to automatically send friend requests to anyone in your email address book thingie (which was well annoying!) i'm not sure if they still do though? this sounds a bit like that. dunno i haven't been on it in about 2 years.

I think they can only see a limited profile of yours until you confirm them as friends.

It's no that they've just added me as a friend...it's been accepted already so they must have been able to havea nosey round my page

Not that there's anything personl on there but just don't like the thought of some random man poking through my page

Have email fb about it and deleted him from my friends list and also changed the password.

My husband has set his (I don't do FB), so that only members of his family and friends he requests can see his profile ect.

I think if you press settings there is one for security and you can uncheck the boxes for having your profile on public view.

Sorry f this doesn't make much sense, but I'm sure that someone with more techy knowledge can give you more idea.

That is really weird Ella, there must be a problem somewhere in your profile because you have to manually approve any friend suggestions

Yep Veggie that's what was worrying me. I hadn't asked to become friends with these people and I hadn't accepted any friends requests from them either. My FB is set to private so not just anyone can nosey round it and I would have liked to have kept it that way!

Oh I agree ella it's all very odd - def need to change your password I think! You can e-mail FB but I doubt they will do much!

I had a virus on there once - kept sending my friends dodgy PMs through FB looking like they were from me!

I have had 2 and my sister 3, i found it odd, but went into "recently added" and deleted them, usually you need to confirm. I could see their profile etc. Wasnt very pleased about it
