Does anyone think that BB (C5) is reporting FB members with fake looking names who post about LF or other critisisms ?

I would say the majority of the ones that have been wiped off my friends list are BB related so yes I think there's a good possibility it is - I'm wondering if they're targeting those of us that have spammed the Official C5 page over there and gone through our friends list??? 

I've lost two overnight. .one is Supes and the other used to be a BB fan but hasn't been for ages... in fact they had a proper first name as well as their old C4 user id as their surname.. tis very disconcerting.

 

I am on there with my real name only because in the sign up process I thought they asked for my real name then would want a user/display name and they didn't ask for the latter so I had to go with my real name

It is more likely to be someone reporting the ids as not genuine....as Tayto said earlier, check your friends lists carefully.

I don't think it has anything to do with  conspiracy theories, or the BB LF site... there are loads of people on there with the strangest names still posting, so why just target us . I think  it is more to do with the new privacy rules they are rolling out...  they are working their way through the lists... hence some getting bopped one day, and then some more a couple of days later.  But if it is the LF thing, then  please accept my apologies!

Hi everyone.    What are the new Privacy Rules, I know I saw something about it but didn't real it fully.   Why is it just ex C4 people though Baz?  

Is it possible that all these people have clicked on one of those Hacker links?  Are they going through a Group that they are all members of?  How is it just so random but lots of these people are friends with each other.   

I don't believe it has anything to do with the C5 page.  

The new privacy rules have been all over the news Tayto. We don't know it is just us, but I think the simple explanation is that as we are a forum we probably have a higher concentration of people using *non proper* names on our friends lists. I dont believe we are being singled out for special treatment .

Well C4 was a forum too I really do not think there is anything untoward going on, just FB cleaning house .

Well I've been in touch with facebook and have asked for a detailed explanation for the disabling of my account..an account they were happy for me to have for over 5 years, I've also asked for the persons name who reported me as I have the right to know and the right to defend myself.If they can use the Bill of rights I think I have a right to use them aswell...and the only people I know that have been banned are exch4ers..

I'm concerned for the cheeeldren of celebs, many of whom have been given usernames, instead of real ones.

So - wot happens if you have been a victim of crime - of bullying - under protection

And FB are demanding you use your real name!!

Regardless of the privacy setting can't anyone send you a message??

I'd agree with that Baz if others from my friends who don't use real names had been deleted but everyone that has, is a C4 forumer 

Nothing on that place keeps your privacy.  Most of the time I don't have chat on because I don't want to advertise I'm online yet this new facility for informing people that you're playing a specific game counter acts that - so where's my privacy????

Ooh Pengy I have just discovered this morning how to get your name of that game thing! Would you believe it's as simple as hovering to the right of your name, a cross comes up which you click on - and viola! I don't want people to know I'm sad enough to play CItyville at 6am

 

I've just tried it and it works but you have to do it for every game you play 

I did much the same 2days ago and got an automated reply linking me once again to the same links that you get on the log in page in the pink box 

 

I followed an article from google about this and it can take weeks for an answer as you join a queue 

 

If you dont wait and start another account I think they wont do anything from what I read in Super's quote above 

Maybe it's being done in a chronological order, as all the C4 forummers joined at around the same time?

I wonder if the others who have been bopped also have a fb a/c in their 'real' name? I have and noticed that that's against the rules: It is a violation of Facebook policy to maintain more than one account on the site.

Ha Ha, that's what I thought about when I was wondering about creating another account in a 'real name' but, not my own 'real name'

And, young people are advised in guidance re safe internet use by CEOP etc. to use nicknames rather than real names on social networking sites. Wonder if they're all getting bopped too?

Or any number of other things Renton...those fleeing domestic violence, victms of abuse, adopted etc. etc. etc......This doesn't seem to be v well thought out!

I wasn't on there in C4 days, only created an account in my forum name about a year or so ago, so all of my 'friends' on there were members of this GaGa forum.....And I didn't do anything naughty, in fact, as my 'friends' will know, I v v rarely posted on there.

The IP address theory doesn't work..       Ickle & I both log onto facebook on this laptop..   we even have some shared friends..    

 

You could have genuinely had a lodger called Supercaliblahblahblah staying at your house   using your computer, drinking your milk, sleeping in your bed, rummaging around your knicker drawer..

I only got a FB account because Ch4 closed down and it was a way of keeping in contact with FMs until we found a new home.

 

Anyway, apart from when I signed up, my only FB activity was when I felt obliged to PhotoShop a picture of Princess Beatrice's wedding hat and post it to a group. So, I haven't posted anything on the Ch5 CBB FB page, but my username was obviously not a real name and all of my FB contacts were FMs.

 

Anyway, they banned me yesterday. Despite my inactivity on FB (ie I haven't posted anything so cannot have been banned for breakinfg any other of their rules), I did not receive a warning!

So I thought, stuff that!! I signed up for a new account (using my great-great-great-grandmother's maiden name ), and used a different email address (I am not sure what would have happened if I had attempted to use the one for my banned account).

 

When setting up a new account I was not asked for the ID that is now required to regain access to a banned account. I assume because they don't want to scare off new people making new account requests!

 

Obviously, they are only asking for ID when they think someone will be willing to provide it because otherwise they would lose all their account contacts etc, ie when they have you in their evil power!!

 

Whilst having a FB account is useful on occasion, there is no way I am giving them my real name or ID! I'd rather do without an account altogether!

After all, if you email them they will have to go to the bother of replying and requesting photo ID, unless they autoreply to emails and send you the link to the form...
