The bunching of the field behind the Safety Car has benefitted Vettel who was up to fourteenth just after the Safety Car came in and is now 12th. Alonso and Buemi have had a big fight for 15th/16th place. Buemi won originally, but Alonso'back in front now.

Vettel is now 11th and eyeing up Petrov for 10th.

Vettel's now 9th with Schumacher next target.

Petrov has now got Alguersuari on his tail.

Vettel challenges Schumacher....and a couple of corners later he powers past.

Up to 8th and there's still eleven laps to go.

Massa has just overcooked the corner and damaged a tyre...off to the pits again for more tyres.
But the team's not ready for him and the stop's a bit longer than it should have been.

Vettel'ss now challenging Sutil for 7th.

And just ahead Barrichello and Kobayashi are having their own battle.

Alonso running wide for the umpteenth time.
Vettel a lot closer to Sutil, but they're running through a yellow flagged area, so can't pass.

Alonso's in the pits now, he has a left rear puncture.

Sutil is holding Vettel up and Schumacher and Hulkenberg are now close behind

Slight error by Sutil and Vettel is through, Schumacher is nearly past Sutil as well, but Sutil recovers in time and holds him off.

Chequered flag, and Webber takes it in first place, with Hamilton second. They have been first and second respectively from the first to last laps. Even through the pit stops.

Qualifying for the German GP starts at 1300 BST after Sebastian Vettel sets the fastest time in final practice at Hockenheim.

Q1 starts,

Schumacher and Petrov are out, Someone else was also out, but they were only testing that the car was running ok, after an earlier problem.

Liuzzi's just had a big smash....wheels flying across the track....the session has been stopped with 14 minutes and 30 seconds of Q1 still to go.

Prior to the stoppage Hamilton, who crashed in practise and lost a lot of practise time laid down a P4 time.

Doesn't look like the loss of practice is affecting him much.

We're underway again. Liuzzi's out of his car OK, but is not likely to be taking any further part in the proceedings.

Although the track is. on the whole, dry there are a few patches of wetness just off the main line.

Red Bull one and two and the McLarens are 3 and 4

Alonso in the Ferreri has gone fastest while Massa keeps spinning off.
