DC's right though.Expecting the drivers to become engine maintenance engineers is a bad move.
Next year!
I hope they don't come back to Baku again.
Raikonen making his feelings known again
You see, Perez has no incentive to have a go at Kimi as he knows keeping within 5 seconds leapfrogs him into Kimi's spot.
Lewis: CTRL ALT DEL
Tennis!!!!!!!
So Lewis has spent the last dozen laps playing around with software.

No thanks.
As bad a F1 gets, I not change channels.
It would make it interesting if Lewis could catch Perez and Kimi pitted for new tyres.

Bet he wishes it was that easy!
There's gonna be war on after this race
Tennis:- All I meant was Andy's in trouble.
Perez might actually HAVE to pass Raikkonen.
The devil in me wanted Perez and Kimi to come together to give Lewis a podium
Told you, there he goes!
Not so keen on having another 'race' at Baku.
Mercedes beating Red Bull in number of wins. Wow, who'd have thunk it.
Perez is somewhat delighted and repaid his team for the mistake yesterday.
"Well Done Baku" odd advert.
I was saying at work that this was a make or break year for Rosberg. I felt he had to win a championship or he would implode. I know he's not won it yet but it's probably worse if he loses out now having been in such a strong position.
Did I hear boos for EJ?
EJ - can't listen to him!
EJ got the winner wrong.
I notice that Kimi and Nico have not yet signed deals for 2017.

No, his prediction before the race.
Austria.
It's all looking a bit
Action packed - and we've only had Q1 so far!
It's proving a very expensive track for a lot of the teams.
The track is definitely not suspension friendly. Those lovely yellow kerbs are a real and present danger to drivers.
Quick, get your laps in, could be rain.
Risk of rain now!
Hulkenberg being investigated for maybe being too fast through the yellow flags!
I would park the car now that I got a good time if I were Lewis. Not sure why they keep going in Q2.

Yeah, some of the decisions seem a bit strange.

Mercedes hand has been forced by the other top runners using a different tyre strategy.

Just thought, could be that they'd rather start the race on a different type of tyre, so they try to run again, but faster!

See my post ^.
Looks like they have been thwarted in that idea as the rain has done for them.
Do you think the Channel 4 sound is a little down?
I have my TV slightly louder than normal and it still seems a bit low in volume.
Now it's very important to get a decent lap on the board.
Inters! There's quite a lot of spray.

I love changeable weather and especially a wet race.

Seems OK at my end, I haven't felt the need to adjust anything.
Track's improving, time's are tumbling!

I know, I think that idea wasn't thought through properly.
1 lap shoot out
BUTTON !!!!!!
YES.
That shootout was quite crazy! But very exciting!
That was good. Wish all qualies were that exciting. Nicely mixed up grid too. Although I've thought that in the past and it's been a damp squib.
Any chance of the race being like that?

And Rosberg and Vettel have grid penalties, so Hulkenberg gets promoted to the front line of the grid.

Despite knowing the grid penalties of Nico and Seb before qualification, Hamilton still went for it, so that is encouraging. He could easily have kept it tidy and finished 2nd or 3rd.
Bump for later.
It was interesting shall I say
What a boring race!
NOT REALLY.
Plenty to watch.
Ferrari over using the tyres again.
Some retirements.
Button doing well.
Manor picking up points.
Nico being very creative with the limits of the track !!
BUT, Lewis wins and I think it was crucial he did other wise I think his season would have slowly fizzled out. A win at Silverstone and we have it nicely set up for the second half of the season.
Toto Wolff - Brilliant reaction - would love to have been a fly on the wall during that debrief.
British Grand Prix - Silverstone
Shame I am working so can't watch free practice, but looking forward to the weekend, especially after last weeks high jinx.
What's the weather looking like - pretty mixed according to the weather forecast. Good, might make it all the more interesting.
It's looking altogether a little damp out there.
I think asking Suzie Wolff a critical question about Mercedes is never going to get an honest response, it's her husband after all who is team principal.
That's the only negative having her on the C4 team.
Looks like Ericsson's FP3 crash has bought him a trip to hospital for further checks and obs. Indications are he is fine.
Sauber one car down for race.
Vettel has a 5 place grid penalty following a gearbox failure in FP3.

Just for qualifying for now. He might be OK for the race
Interesting point made by the commentary crew, on Friday at Silverstone, the attendance is greater than the combined race day attendance of 80% of all other races.
Their bias for Hamilton shows again...
"He'll get a massive boost from ALL of the crowd......"
How many lap times are going to be deleted, do you think?

I think it's less bias and just the way TV people speak these days.
How many times have you heard politicians says "The British public are ..."
Or a cook saying "everyone loves a BBQ"
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing posted:How many lap times are going to be deleted, do you think?
Lots by the look of it.
They have already said that they are adopting a zero tolerance this weekend regarding track limits.
Will be more interesting in the top 10 shoot out when they push it.
Shaping up to be a good Red Bull/Ferrari battle.
Button
Bum!
Second chance Button.
They're all of a fluster over Button still apparently running. It's about 99.9% likely to be Magnussen's lap being deleted.
I clearly saw him with all 4 wheels over the line in his last lap. However it's still not clear if Button IS going to run!
Button
In, out, in, out, what's it all about
Heavens! What a Faux Pas by McLaren!!!!!

Out of track limits Kimi surely.

I'm not sure why they have resigned him TBH.
Williams need to let Massa go now, get a younger driver in.
Oooops.

I did not see it as the camera cut away, but I'm sure they said he was OK.
Bugga!
Well done Lewis, real quality showing through ...again.
Especially when pressure was on.
Top Q3.
It was the corner where his lap was discounted that they cut away from, but were saying he was OK. However he was over the line in the previous corner in that final lap, as far as I could see.

They are not counting all parts of the track, just some.

Nothing for the officials to be brave about - the lap was good.
Anyone watching?
