Why would a man ask his ex-girlfriend to meet on a certain day and not contact her at all when the day comes?
Could it be a way of being in control and having power over her...trying to get a reaction to see if she still cares?
Any advice or insight would be very much appreciated!

You pop up randomly, exclusively asking personal dilemma questions. No other interaction. It just seems odd? I find it hard to invest the emotional energy in trying to help. I'm sorry, the internet has made me cynical.
It's more likely that the man has had second thoughts about meeting the ex-girlfriend, though not knowing the people involved it's impssoible to say.
The only advice I can give is that the man should get on with his life, as should the ex-girlfriend, and they accept that it's not going to be together.
