David has stunned the housemates by revealing that he has gone on dates with his own daughter.

After Mario joked that he would leave the house tomorrow to find Sam dating his little girl, the 39-year-old minister explained that he took his daughter out on several occasions when she was 16 and lavished attention on her in an attempt to dissuade her from potential suitors who didn't match up to the example he set.

"So in a way you've brainwashed your daughter?" JJ commented.

"Do you think I would allow my children to go into the big wide world without giving them some mental tracks of what is right and what is wrong?" David replied.

JJ argued that his daughter should be old enough to make her own decisions without his influence, which prompted the Welshman to hit back: "Stick your head up John James's backside, go back to sleep."

When Andrew suggested that he might be interested in wooing David's daughter, he was warned: "She is very intelligent, but she is naive and you're not going to take advantage of that. She is not a watermelon.

"If I found you ever did [hurt her], your life wouldn't be worth living. You would be skating on very thin ice and when it breaks I'll be right under it."

Andrew then detailed his plans for a date, with David agreeing to the Oxford student's suggestion that he take his daughter to the cinema, but only if they sat in the middle of the auditorium and he could guarantee that the place would be crowded with people.

David went on to further justify his stance, explaining: "I don’t think it's brainwashing, I think it's just good parenting. I don't mind it being called brainwashing because I want to wash my children’s brains from the junk that they've picked up in this world."

He added: "I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing children up the right way. While she's in my care I will bring her up in a way that I feel to be right. While she's my responsibility and I love her the way I do, I will try to bring her up in an environment that's full of love, full of care and where they're taught right and wrong."
