Ooops someone didn't do their homework Good luck to William and Catherine (as she now likes to be known). I hope it is a happier and longer marriage then his fathers.

Aye....good luck to them.

Oh she wants to be known as Catherine now? Meh. Ark at her giving it the large already. Diana was known as loads of things, Lady Di, Lady Diana, Princess of Wales....etc, she just went with the flow. If Kate wanted to be known as Catherine then she shouldn't have let people shorten it in the first place!

Why does she want to be known as Catherine all of a sudden?
I wish them well, but it all seems just a little bit contrived to me,,,

TBF, she probably doesn't have a say in anything anymore including how to be addressed. And so it starts.....

She will not see much of her family on Christmas day in years to come either.Reference:

Unless they are happy to put up with a freezing cold country pile, getting shitty presents and having to shoot their own supper.
I suppose Queen Catherine sounds rather more grand then Queen Kate or Queen Katie The media and the likes will probably still refer to her as Kate/Katie anyway. She will never be another Diana and she certainly doesn't have the charisma Diana had. I hope she gets stuck into her Royal duties and actually does some work for a change.
Having said that, I really like William and I wish him every happiness. Let's hope he is our next King and not Charles.

Why would she want to be?She is her own person and hopefully will not have the stuff to put up with that Diana did.

That remains to be seen. She's certainly already ahead of her in several important areas.
I like William as well, LL. I am hoping that him and his missus cast a modern light on the Royal family, Diana certainly made them seem more personable. But where Diana went against the grain and smiled a lot and shook hands ungloved with AIDS patients, I think Kate/Catherine will end up turning into 'one of them'.
She seemed so nervous in the interview, terrified of saying and doing the wrong thing and I thought it was quite sad. It would be refreshing if she is allowed to retain her persona but so far it looks like it's gonna be all about William and she's gonna be the good wife who tags along.
The Royals were fuming when Diana overshadowed Charles and became the ubiquitous choice, I can't see them letting that happen again.

Queen Katie
now I think that has quite a ring to it!
30 years on to compare Diana to her son's missus to be is vacuous to the point of nausea. Why do it?

Well, quite. It's as if they want the 'magic' of Diana and that wedding to be carried on through these nuptials.Strange seeing as the 2 boys have been left to form their own identities since her death, but now that Wills is getting wed it's all comparisons to the wedding of his mother and father, which is no comparison to this IMO.

I never said she did want to be another Diana What I am saying though, like it or not, she will be compared to her. In the paper the other day there were pictures of Diana alongside pictures of Katie - comparing the two. There is no comparison in any way whatsoever, imo.

Very difficult to remain "your own person" when you join the Royal Family. Diana tried to do it and they tried to exorcise it out of her. Hopefully, by the time Katie becomes Queen Katie , times may progress somewhat and she will be allowed to be true to herself and our Queen at the same time. I did read in the paper, that she has said that on Royal duties, she is quite happy to walk two steps behind William and has no intention of carrying out any duties solo. That remains to be seen.Unfortunately, the Royal Family will do all they can not to have another Diana in their midst.

I don't think that her having Diana's ring did them any favours... I think Kate should have been allowed to have her own ring.Reference:

I agree with you there. I think the sentiments were well meant by William and I can understand why he wants Katie to have his mother's ring. But...... his mother's marriage was hardly out of a Mills and Boon book - mores the pity.

Hopefully that's because they realise what a mess they made the first time round, not only spoiling their son's life, but some innocent's too and with it condemn the sons of that so-called marriage to have to measure up, go along and take up the mantle of this rubbish.Reference:

Oh yes! What a fantastic opportunity they missed there. Two celebrations in one! Is it too late for them to change the date, do you think?

Being as how he's the heir to being Prince of Wales, marriage on St Georges day is probably the most absurd suggestion made yet. And that's saying summat.

But then ppl would have said: can they not have their own day? They are doomed to do it wrong from now on. This country crows about their Royalty, but back hands them at every opportunity. Weird.Reference: erinp

I think that would have excluded the Scots, Welsh and Irish.Add Reply
