Yes, but we already knew that different people aren't treated badly anymore, we don't need to vote for them to win these shows over everyone else to prove a silly point.

But I would like to see a level playing field for all contestants instead of this kind of nonsense.

So the others aren't "different" so they are ignored or just not thought of as "cool or righton" enough to win these shows, it's unfair on them just because they don't have that "difference" to fall back on.

People pick up their phones all over Eurovision land and vote for their winner. How is that not a level playing field?

Because all the talk was about a bearded lady rather than the song or all the contestants.

Surely Poland should have won if that was the criteria.

I thought she was trans sexual? post or pre.

Nope, just a cross dresser

So why do they call him a 'she'?  .. and why is she 'capturing hearts'  (although I have to confess, Eddie captures mine, but I prefer him dressed as a man)

Good point.  So it's a he then...and he'd be fine with being called "he".

Does it actually matter?

It matters if that contestant wins simply because they stand out from the crowd, it's unfair on the others who go onto the stage as themselves and don't dress up like a panto dame to get attention.

Perhaps people liked the song/singer. It wasn't a block vote - more individuals liked him/her for whatever reason more than the other contestants. There's no conspiracy - he/she was the most popular.

Haven't you seen enough of this kind of thing to see why people vote for this kind of act? the same as Dana International, Nadia, Luke A, Pete, or Sam, it's the difference everyone focuses on, not whether they are good enough to win.

This "acceptance" thing is very outdated and boring now.

Personally I find it preferable than simply voting for someone with the biggest knockers Horses for courses

I would have preferred Finland or the Netherlands to win but I wont lose sleep over it. It wasn't a bad song and he/she had a good voice. I've seen worse winners.

I don't comprehend there Col   Again, they were different   why not come up with a song that appeals to all? And if it's good enough, it'll win

Women dresses as women with sexy outfits? Not really on the same shock value level as a cross dresser who sings in a female voice.

You know I was joking about supporting Poland...right? I think people/voters do lose all objectivity when someone different or odd goes on these type of shows, the judging of that person, for or against, tends not to be fair. Those negative will always be nasty but those positive for those different or diverse people tend to let all common sense of fair judgement go out the window...it tends to become a hero worship mentallity about that person, and ignores any flaws in that persons act or character....we see that every time on BB.

And as I said on another post, women dressing as milk maids isn't on the same gimmick scale as a bearded cross dressing guy who sings in a womans voice lol.

Surely you can see the huge difference?

I think women dressing In female clothes is hardly gimmicky. Lol

And do you think that if that same song was sung by "Conchita" or whatever his real name is, was sung by him dressed as a bloke that it would have got all that attention and Graham Norton gushing prase onto him and willing him to win?

Seriously doubt it.

I do think you're taking this rather seriously don't you? I heard Graham Norton speaking very positively (albeit tongue in cheek) about a lot of the acts tonight.I don't think he was willing him or anyone in particular to win - I think he sees it very much for what it is - a bit of fun. At the end of the day more people voted for the austrian act ....................it was in the name of entertainment and I for one was entertained this evening.

Not sure why you have such a bee in your bonnet over a bloke in a dress winning a singing contest. This time next year we'll struggle to recall the winning act - it is what it is EUROTRASH!

I think in this case the guy just sang a good enough song. This competition is an uphill struggle for the competitors because the songs are usually crap, but if they have a decent voice and can hold a tune, they're in with a chance. That's what happened tonight.
