Yes, when I was 8.
The op to remove it left me semi-paralysed down my right side and I had to learn to walk and write again.

To be honest I was quite naive. So it was sort of 'I'm going into hospital for an operation and the doctors will make me better again!'
The total seriousness of the situation didn't impact upon me. I guess that was probably down to how my parents behaved about it. (At least in front of me)

Hard to remember exactly how it was, I basically do all my writing with my left hand now as I find right handed writing tedious and painstaking and requires a lot of effort. How I'd have got on if I hadn't been able to use my left hand, I don't know!
Learning to walk again was relatively simple, as long as someone was hanging on to me.

Aww fluffy well done you getting so well again.I watched a show a while back that stated children recover better than adults with certain conditions because they are still growing and developing.Their bodies work harder etc.
