lauren would be an obvious guess cos she is leaving, but i am sticking with abi for now

Lauren's leaving because Jacqueline Jossa is going on maternity leave. I'm not sure exactly when she's due, but her pregnancy was announced in August.

As an aside, I'm wondering how this will affect the live broadcasts: it's been pretty clear from this week's shows and the previews for next week that Lauren plays an important role in the unmasking of the killer. The current episodes were shot some weeks ago, and you can already see that they're having to be careful how they film Jossa so as not to show that she's pregnant. (There was a little sequence prior to the half-marhon where Lauren "conveniently" sprained her ankle so she couldn't take part...   )

The new Radio Times has an article where they ask the cast members who they think the killer is. Most of them are going for either Ian, Peter or Abi.

The idea of it being one of the Beales makes sense from a dramatic perspective (and a lot of the cast seem to think Jane's involved - probably as part of the clean-up). However I personally can't see it being Ian. As for Pete, I dunno: in the episodes immediately after Lucy's death, I couldn't see any way in which he could convincingly be shown to be responsible, but I can now just about see how they could manage it.

Abi is an interesting one, but I would have a problem with this if only because it would make the way in which Emma confronted the killer look unrealistic.

Largely for the sake of being different, I'm currently going with Whitney. Her clearing-out of Lucy's internet accounts was dismissed a little too quickly for my liking...

Another possibility is Nick Cotton. Although he didn't return to Eastenders until October and Lucy died in April, Charlie Cotton arrived in March to tell Dot that Nick had "died". It's known that Nick Cotton is leaving. Emma Summerhayes didn't meet Nick in the scene where she confronts someone we don't see (he's shown at home at that time). She does say "It's still murder" to the person, so the person who she meets doesn't accept that what was done was murder. And that person could be Dot, who is currently looking after Nick in a hideaway, who went to see Emma to try to convince her that it wasn't murder.

Good theory Detective Loro, and with rumours regarding Dot and Nick (don't want to say in here as not posted as a spoiler thread), something will have to tip her over the edge

The problem with Whodunnits and EastEnders is that the result follows no logical reason.  Pick the least likely, the one the program makers have steered you away from, and it's them. 

EastEnders haven't told the cast.  In real life, the person would know they were the murderer and would behave in a certain manner, giving viewers an insight.  Certainly if it were, let's say, the Abby Branning character.  That character is insecure teenage girl, who would not, in reality, be able to keep her cool in a manner that would befit a psychopath. 

Yes, the recent dialogue between Masood and Shabnam pointed toward that.

EastEnders love to lay it on with trowel. 

In the Xmas episode when all the 'Lucy murder suspects' were all shown, one after another, in a medley of scenes, checking their mobile phones, was pathetic. 

Lauren Branning did it....I always knew.

It's got to be someone who isn't going to leave too big a hole in the programme, so I am going for .....

There is no point to Dexter, he's probably already gone (I haven't seen him around recently), so it will be the biggest damp squib ending to the biggest damp squib storyline

I love the idea of crossover and the idea that it might be the famous serial killer Dexter. I'm going to my turf accountants tomorrow to get a price on Lorne Malvo.
