Remember the 94 year old woman attacked in her own home, beaten beyond recognition and one of her fingers cut off.
Whoever did that should never see a free day again.

I so agree.
When I heard a couple of weeks ago she had regained consciousness, I was quite hopeful for her. But then you think those sort of injuries to a woman of her age. The sad thing is, whoever did it could have gone in and took everything they wanted from her, but to beat her and do that to her is just absolutely disgusting.
So sad.
I just hope they get the person/people who did this to a defenceless old woman.
It's shocking beyond words - HOW AND WHY can someone do that to a defenceless old lady - or anyone come to that? Poor, poor lady - to have gone through that - it doesn't bear thinking about to know how terrified she must have been.
So sad and to do this to an old lady asleep in her bed is disgusting
this is absolutely disgusting and quite scary - to reach that age and have that happen to her - so sad as well - she must have been petrified

That's exactly it, a woman of her age has lived through a world war, but not just that all the other crap life throws at you. But to be attacked so barbarically in her bed while she was sleeping and for that to be the end of her life. It makes me sick.
Yet the police said today that there was no sign of a break in or a robbery

So if she was asleep, does that mean it was someone she knew

Me too Cind's,what a way for that lady's life to come to an end,the barbaric brute/s who done it don't belong in society.

Maybe at her age she was going a bit senile and let them in then wandered off to bed. I know when Mr Cinds mother was at the point where we knew she was wrong she was still driving around and going to cash points and asking people to give her her money.

It can't be someone she knew, why would they sever her finger?
Even saying that, it makes me think if she wasn't broke in to, was a family member that desperate for her money they would take her finger for the gold. Makes me feel even more sick.

Aye...just ignore me!
Well that's it Cinds...our little meetings in the caravan are over
The one with the supported roof in Skegness - do you remember?
Three grand that cost and it was still quivering.
i thought i heard on the news yesterday that one of her 'carers' had been taken in for questioning, not heard what , if anything transpired from that though.

I've just had a little look but couldn't see anything. I hope they catch whoever is responsible and soon.

My nana was the same before we put her in a home, she kept going to the shop and buying sausages for her late husbands dinner, the shop staff thought it was great fun to keep serving her until i went in and gave them a mouthful, they kindly told her in future that she had already been shopping that day, not hard is it

wasn't it one of the carers that found her?
Yes Aimee it was a carer that found her.
It is very sad, truly shocking. The lady may well have had a keysafe outside her home so that the carers could access to deliver her care. Someone may have abused their knowledge of the keysafe number so that an unauthorised person could gain access
As others have said, what a terrible way for this lady's life to end and I also feel desperately sad for her family. Bereavement is so painful but to know that their Mum's/gran etc must have been so terrified at the assault How do you live with that?

that could well be the case San
I also think that as she lived in Moseley which is a very affluent area in Birmingham, someone probably thought she had more possessions/money that were worth a considerable amount, hence the brutality of the attack. There's often a belief that older adults tend to squirrel their money/possessions away at home rather than in a bank.
I really hope they get who ever did this soon and for once, the full weight of the law is shown to them.

She may just have inadvertently forgotten to lock up.

My mum has done that a few times ...................it's frightening.
