You always think that her youthfulness would give her a fighting chance. So cruelly swift.
Terribly sad news. RIP Elena.
Really shocking and sad She was amazing to reach British no.1 despite having liver problems all her adult life. Then incredibly, diagnosed with cancer of the liver too.
R.I.P Elena Baltacha
really tragic
I'll be honest I had to press the link as the name range a bell but I could not picture her. Now I know who it is I recall not too long ago on BBC Breakfast that she was retiring from Tennis.
Really is a shocker when its someone in the public eye and more pointedly when they are so young and active.
so sad
What reaching the second round at Wimbledon meant to Elena Baltacha in 2008:
and the same again in 2009:
She was a battler on the tennis court and enjoyed her fair share of successes - especially memorable representing Britain in the Federations Cup during her 3 year reign as British number one. From what I have heard and read today she must have been a lovely person and a battler away from the tennis court alsoâĶ itâs absolutely tragic that she has left at such a young age.
RIP
