Aww longcat. Buy them tomorrow and give yourself a wee treat.
nothing to do with class, am working class btw, but in 22 years of marriage, have never served up egg n chips. I just think OH needs something a bit more substantial. Just asked him, and he says he wants egg n chips for dinner OMG i've deprived him all these years
You lot are making me soooo hungry

Nah, as long as you say it's haricot beans in a jus de tomate.

Chips, beans, and grated cheese over the top.....yummmm!

My late Dad used to ask for an Egg Banjo which was a fried egg on a Barm Cake aka a Bap, Bread Cake, Muffin (not the american cake), bread roll.
They are very tasty!

Love egg and chips - nothing better than dipping a chip in the yolk
I have eaten egg and chips, but with sausage, bacon and tomato, sometimes beans
egg n chips with hp sauce and a slice of bread with loads of butter so when you make a chip buttie it melts all over them.
My mum used to always make it when we were little. Me and Dad wouldn't have it without meat though. He's one of those who has to have meat on his plate to make it a meal...me too.
I do love a runny egg on toast most days
Eggs aren't so cheap these days either

Not with chicken on it I hope!
It would be like eating 2 generations in one go!

Haven't had egg & chips for years, but that's because I'm a bit of a health food junkie, nothing to do with class. Mmmm it's lush though and you've made me want some now
I'm having some in about 5 mins when hubby has finished cooking them for my dinner.

Can't have it as I'm allergic to eggs but the OH and kids love it
(I'm quite happy with a plate of crinkle cut chips)

Egg and chips - yum YUM. Gotta fry the eggs in dripping though. And homemade chips (or fried left over 'tatties).
Plenty of salt and vinegar; b&b, cup of rosylea.
Cholesterol overload, no doubt. But if you're gonna do it, you've gotta do it properly.

the chips have got to have salt and vinegar on them though - salty vinegary egg yolk is awesome

I love a fried egg sarnie too.
My mate, who is weird for sure, likes a fried egg AND cucumber sarnie.
Can't get my head around that one.

Does he a do a posh and have it with ham then?
Or are we talking serious stuff here like half a cow
My dad used to do the best egg and chips when he was a chef in a hospital.
The hospital used to be next next door to Brent Cross Shopping Centre before it was closed down...so we used to shop then pop next door for egg and chips...yum.

Half a cow sounds more like it. Always 2 eggs too.

My stepdad, who is also weird, likes jam and cheese sarnies. And if you give him a sandwich with lettuce in it, he has to have sugar on it.

I like boiled egg and a jam sandwich to go with it.

I think my mate puts cucumber in her eggy sarnies purely to elevate her social status.
But....sugar on lettuce??? That's plain mental.

I don't eat it anymore as I'm vegan.
But I used to love egg and chips as a kid, my (grown up) kids love it too.
We were firmly working class if that helps

Blimey, yes I do Q.
I didn't move to this area until I was 19 but it was still there then, just up the road from Hendon Circus before you get to Brent Cross IIRC
Why?

That's where my dad was a chef from 73 (when he came to this country)-87 (I think) when it was closed down.
It's where we used to get our egg and chips.
