EEEEK!! I'm thick - help!!

Ok - I am really thick re pc stuff, so I need your help please.

I accidentally knocked my keyboard about an hour ago, and my toolbars and task bar at the top and the bottom of the page have disappeared.
I have been trying (including rebooting) to get them back but they won't.
If I hover around the top of the screen I can get the bar with the back button and the minimise button and also my favourites - only way I got back on here was to do that, bu have lost the time at the bottom, and the blue bar at the top that says Windons IE. Once I stop hovering they all disappear again - it's driving me mad - please someone - help me!! I will be ETERNALLY in your debt if you can sort me out!!

Will depend on the nature of what happened, but try clicking the 'Esc' key - top left.

... IE7 & Vista have this dissappearing toolbar thing but it doesn't sound like that because it should re-appear with a re-boot....

I am on XP - no idea what IE version I have though

( lost the blushing smilie)
My pc is about 6 months old - not sure I have upgraded it since then!!

Okay... In IE, if you can go to Help : About Internet Explorer and see what version it is

Meantime try this from IE Help...

Customize the Internet Explorer toolbars

To show or hide toolbars

You can show or hide the Menu bar, Favorites bar, Command bar, and status bar. Here's how:

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, point to Toolbars, and then click the toolbar you want to show or hide.

Edit .. that is the 'Tools' on the right hand side of the screen in IE7 & IE8

.. and if you have hidden the bar with the 'Tools' option right click to the right of a tab and a pop up should appear offering tool bar options

.. of course I could sneak back up here and say "Hey moomin.. try pressing F11"

OK Zaph - it is IE 7.
I had already tried that other solution you told me about, but all the toolbars were checked already and it changes nothing.

LOL - my son has just risen from his slumbers so I decided to ask him - he said "Just press F11" so I did - and it's back!!

I know it'a easy to say in hindsight, but when I said 'try the Esc key' I really wanted to say F11 key first....but I couldn't remember which 'F' key it was.

Oh god ... I hate it when that happens .... I'm crap with techno stuff too

It's ok if it happens when my son is around because he knows exactly how to put it right ... but if I'm alone, I'm knackered

Awww! moomin accidents happen,

nothing to do with being thick! just means you like me and lots of others we are not as computer savvy as some.Wish I could help but I am sure someone can!

Now just ask some body very young to do a sum based on 240pence in the pound and you would find that some would struggle!
