Funnily enough, my first purchase on eBay turned out to be a bad experience but, thankfully, it has been my last (well, to date anyway and I registered in 2003 so not bad).

So long as you stick to what the ad says then it should be ok. You always get arses though. I had a guy leave me horrible feedback for an item I was supposed to have bought and pulled out of. The item was in German. I can't read bloody German. I think it was some album but I can't be sure Laugh

He had me mixed up with someone else btw. How that happened I don't know Confused

At least Ebay can see all the emails that have gone back and forth! Nod

My experience, albeit painful, was a purchase.

I should have heeded the old adage of 'if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is'.

I bought an item as being authentic but, when received, it was clearly fake and I asked very nicely for reimbursement and I would return the item.

After a week of receiving no response to my emails, I sent one last mail giving him 48 hours within which to respond or I would leave negative feedback.

No response - I subsequently left negative feedback and he immediately left the same for me stating 'she got what she saw in the picture so what's she complaining about'!

That made me mad. I took the matter to arbitration but that also proved fruitless so I eventually submitted a claim for reimbursement from eBay. They don't make it easy though as claims have to be filed via eBay in Germany.

By that time I was like a dog with a bone and would not let go.

After seven months and a great deal of chivvying eBay finally settled my claim. Didn't see why I should be out of pocket. It's their responsibility if they allow fraudsters to sell goods, not mine! I know 'caveat emptor' (buyer beware) applies but, even so, they allowed this man to sell fakes.

He did email me again once he had been banned by eBay stating he would only set up again using a different user name - SWINE.

19 other people came out of the woodwork once I filed my negative feedback against him. They had all been duped by this seller too.

I'm glad eBay have tightened up on selling designer goods now.

Try to contact the seller again and ask whether they have proof of posting, make it a little sharp in tone and say that if necessary you will report this transaction to eBay. If no reply to that report to eBay and they will take it from there.

Thanks squiggle, I'll do that, although the payment went through paypal, I paid immediately after winning the item and had it confirmed by email. I noticed too late that the seller has quite a few negatives, all in the same vain as mine. You live and learn, I suppose. Smiler

You are protected by Paypal, it might just take a spot of sorting out. Your weapon cologne is feedback don't be afraid to use it and warn others, good luck.
