I have put an item on Ebay for sale, I have had enquiries about it and the guy says he would collect the item, though I did say I would post it.

I am registered as a buyer but this is the first item I have sold. Do I have to register seperately as a seller, and, if the item is sold, how do I get my money, how do I know they have paid paypal (do I get notified) and how long after they have paid through paypal should I post the item off...help!!! Big Grin

You don't have to register seperately.
On your ebay summary page exist cfertain icons against each article.
Assuming that you definitely have a paypal account, the paid icon will turn blue.
I try to post as soon as they've paid.
I would not want a punter turnin g up at my house either. (unless I'd sold 'em a car)

Log into your ebay account. Click My ebay. Click Summary.
You will see if it has been paid into your paypal account from there. You should also be able to log into your paypal account.

Easy for me to say but I would not want a caller.

Thanks again Joe...as soon as the money is in my paypal account is it ok to send the parcel then???xx

Don't worry about invoices.
The other thing that came to mind, if the (hopefully) George Clooney lookalike collects, then get him to sign for it.

Laugh He'll have to come in then while I find a pen!! Laugh

Maybe he wants to collect to avoid paying the p&p.

Yes it is Hyacith, I don't want him to collect it though as I don't want him turning up at my house Shake Head

I don't like people collecting in person either as you just don't know who they are!!

I think that by buying the product he has already agreed to pay the P&P.
I don't like the fact that Paypal is "awaiting" payment, D in D.
I can't see your screen . Are you sure that the pound sign is colured blue and no subnotes?

Yes, it's still blue! Nod

If he's agreed to pay the P&P, will he have to pay that amount?

hi devil - important, if buyer wants to pay cash and cash only on collection, then request proof of address, person etc - ask them to show passport, recent letter, etc - and get them to sign for goods.

if you feel uncomfortable, explain you will only send in post and you have no other policy (unless you have already agreed with them) - make sure you arrange a convenient time so as to have other people around - borrow a surly looking neighbour (take car reg No) if you are on your own.

i think you can adjust payment to read as paid should they pay cash on collection.

More confusing if too many people get involved.

Good Luck DD. It will all be OK so don't get too stressed about it.

NO! Don't butt out.
I don't profess to be an expert. I am comparing this with the idiosyncratic way that I do things. I ignore what I don't like/need, maybe someone else will have better advice than mine.

I am so stressed now, I don't want him to pick it up without receiving payment.....if he picks it up is he still obligated to pay the P&P if he's agreed to it????Big Grin

Nod I really want to post it but I don't think he wants to payy the charge!!! He hasn't paid for the item yet as I assume he's waiting to see if he can pick it up before he pays...

...I don't want bad feedback, can I adjust the payment for the selling amount without P&P and ask him to pay that through paypal then collect the package? If i do, and the money is in the paypal account is it ok to let him take the item and should i get him to sign for it as he could say he hasn't received it!!!Nod

just say the goods are not at your premises, but miles away in storage at your grannies house. so there is no other way for them to have goods, but in post.

and don't be intimidated, feedback is a two way street - if he backs out, i think ebay credits you and relists item.

Thumbs Up Trust me to get the pain in the arse buyer!! Laugh When I buy I pay straight away, he's obviously at his PC as he keeps emailing me!!! Grrr....

...once paypal says it's paid for, is the money secure then? can I send straight away? Big Grin
