I knew the actor was getting the boot cos he was misbehaving or summink but I never knew his character was dying I love Lindsey Coulson (Carol) - always thought she was a brilliant actress, thought all of them were brilliant tonight (but Billy outshone them all).

I'm not sad to see Billy go cos I was fed up of him and his mates, but want to know what the cause of death was. Was he doing drugs with Lauren?

I still think the most powerful death ever on Eastenders was that of Hassan Osman. For those who don't remember the earlier years of EE, Hassan was the baby son of Sue and Ali: the original owners of the cafe. The episode after Ali won a considerable amount from gambling, he and Sue woke to find that Hassan had died during the night: a cot death. EE was a huge talking point in those days, and I well remember the day after Hassan's death, with people discussing it in hushed tones it in the street.  The then-R1 DJ Steve Wright summed it up when he said on-air that he kept having to remind himself that Hassam was just a fictional character in a soap...

EL I remember that! It wasn't long after EE started, I remember Sue had a real obsession with babies or summat after that?
Yes, that's right. Sue had difficulty conceiving another child, and became over-protective of "little Ali" when he finally arrived. She and Ali became estranged, and he snatched his son back while Sue was visiting Hassan's grave. Sue had a mental breakdown afterwards and left the series, with Ali following soon after when he lost everything gambling. (This was in 1989 - 4 years into EE.)

Think he drank a whole bottle of vodka (30 units) which im guessing would most likely kill you... I could be wrong.
I saw that scene and wondered whether it would be even possible to drink a whole bottle of neat vodka without gagging, unless someone was a very hardened drinker.  He then went on to continue drinking and I'd have thought such an instant amount of alcohol would pretty much ensure almost instant throwing up or passing out.
