e45 and aqueous cream dont work as its water based which dries ur skin. u need oil based lubricants.

having said that i got precribed fucidin cream which is for eczema itches. but mines only on one finger.

Yeah I've got Doublebase, and Betnovate and nooothing workss.

I dont know if it does usually prescribed creams with steroids in them work better also steroid tablets but anti malarial tablets work ,but it is getting the right ones as they say you have got to take them for three months and if they dont work you try other ones the anti malarials finally worked for me but it took 18 months in and out of hospital good luck

My boy has horrible eczema, and we have tried that.

We tend to have to resort to Hydracortisone Cream... then use the normal E45 inbetween applications of the steroid.

Ohh that sounds so much work and effort I'm glad you got it all sorted though

I may pack myself off to the dermatologist again soon and see what they can do for me this year. Last year I got light treatment, which was nice

Noo It does for about a minute then it's just back to normal.

nothing works for my daughter my mum has the same thing and has been for loads of tests and the result was ...... she's allergic to water

Aww my friend had that, it must get really irritating and sore. I've just got really dry skin so I'm not sure if the baby oil will be any good for you, but I don't suppose it can hurt to try. Olbas oil in the bath is quite good too.

Seawater is one of the best things for eczema, my friend has it really bad but always clears up in the summer when he surfs more.

I used to come in in welts when I was a girl, after having a bath. Huge red bubble type things... and it was decided I was allergic to minerals in the water in that area (funnily enough it was Yorkshire... where the water tastes lovely).

Am down south now.. and I don't have any problems anymore (but my kettle is full of limescale and the tap water tastes rank!)

I would see your dermatologist mary as you might use something that could irritate it even more very best of luck

i know i sed i was off to bed but-my nickname with my mates was 'miss pears' cos they had spots and i did not

but ive been told to go in the sun and it stops your spots i shall shut up now

I have really dodgy psoriasis. I didn't like to say when you posted your pic the other day, but you have guttate psoriasis, right?

Have you spoken to your dermatologist about biologics such as Enbrel or Raptiva, or systemics such as Cyclosporin and Methotrexate?

I try to steer clear of steroids because I've had some nasty experiences with rebound effect and koebner response.

In terms of relief from itching I can only suggest solid cocoa butter or to wet a towel, wring it out and put it in the fridge for an hour or so before sticking it on whatever itches.

Thanks. Living with it isn't all that bad, apart from the discomfort and stuff; what's worse is living with other people's reactions to it.

His hands and arms were so sore all he could do was hold them out in front of him with tears streaming down his face, as I dotted cream on them as gently as possible!

I reckon the worst thing about it for me is that I have to get up so bloody early and go to bed so late cos of all the stuff I have to cake it in.

It takes bloody aaaages to dry so I can put clothes on......

I so hope he grows out of it poor lad.My girl went though hell at school,kids can be so cruel .I used to cry with her n felt angry that no matter what we did nothing worked.Like i said lots of kids grow out of it when they get in their teens

Yeh its amazing for moisturising the skin too though I used to put some in my bath, not only did my scar fade but all my dry skin cleared up.

Thankfully we haven't had any of the teasing from kids at school, maybe cos he's a boy, or maybe he's too young.

He seems to be growing into it, rather than out of it... but fingers crossed when he hits his teens it will clear up.

Ohhh That looks so sore, does it crack in the Winter? Mine, one year, got so bad that the only part of me where you could see any of my 'normal' skin was my face, the rest of me was completely covered, I couldn't move without it cracking, bleeding and being the most painful thing in the world.

They've never actually told me what type I have either, which is good of them :\ But I am going to get my mum to get me an appointment with someone asap so I can ask about all these different things.

And thanks for the itch-stopping tip as well, it does get beyond bearable at time doesn't it?

I also have to agree with the reactions from people being the worst part of it. In my first school kids wouldn't sit next to me/on the chair I'd sat on because they said I was diseased And I get very self conscience of it at work with serving food because I'm worried people will think it's gross or something. And the cream is such an irritating thing to have to constantly apply, they tried me on a tar based one a few years ago and I stank of tar and I was all sticky and it didn't even work. It's such an effort to make sure you have some cream on you as well wherever you go. When I've been round friends' houses I've had to resort to some really weird things just to attempt to keep it even a little bit moisturised
