you can buy things and sell things!

It's great to find stuff you can't find in the shops, and to re-buy old stuff like stuff you may have binned in the 70s or 80s...but it is easy to get ripped off by 'fake' goods.. Ebay don't give a shit and neither do paypal if you lose money. I have been stung a couple of times; luckily only for a fiver one time and a tenner on the other. If you are a seller though, the charges are a rip off. Ebay take a listing fee, AND a final value fee, and then PAYPAL take their share. Bastards.quote:Originally posted by Ricky92:

I think its a good idea in principle where people can sell stuff they no longer want and others can buy stuff more cheaply from somebody who no longer has a use for an item however there are far too many people with shops etc and which arent necessarily any cheaper than a high street shop - - ive never sold anything on ebay but i have had very many bargains plus one or two not so good bargains but over all i have no complaints

I sell Dinky cars sometimes on there... with my Dad.... we always try and wait for the cheap listing offer days.
I have bagged some fantastic bargains over the years ...........i've also been known to bid whilst under the influence (not good) have sometimes got some real duff stuff.
The thing to remember with eBay is always check the feedback. If they have been trading for several years and they have a good high positive feedback (I wouldn't buy from anyone with less than 98%) then they are probably going to be fine, you can soon see whether they are selling rip-offs from what previous customers say. I have been buying (and very occasionally selling) on eBay for 9 years and I would not be without it.
have always bought rather than sold, cos of laziness. the only duff stuff have been small electricals: compressor, comp mouse, m.phone battery and ac/dc adaptor that didn't have the wattage it claimed. have only sent one item back, so by all accounts, i got what i paid for?!?
It is being very good to me at the moment.
bought loads of stuff on ebay, this pc,it's brilliant, my car , for next to nothing, a pushchair for a friend who was preggy,it was red and a life style brand , which apparently, is very important... ebay's good.
I love it, I've had lots of bargains over the years. Must admit though I do get a bit carried away when I'm bidding on something, I have to have it.LOL.

It just amazing that adrenaline rush when you are bidding at the last second for something you've set your heart on against others who are equally determined to beat you to it

I know, I feel all When I have won.
It's good.I have bought and sold stuff over the years, mainly my childrens clothes when they have grown out of them. When i buy i always check the feedback beforehand.
I have never been on E-Bay

Heather you've got to go and look at least, health warning: you could get hooked!!
And Scooby doo, hope we are never bidding against each other!
I've only bought hard to get concert tickets
from there, it worked in my favour.
I don't use it a great deal, other than to check prices.

I love e-bay, although I am not as obsessed with it as I was when I first joined. I have got some really good stuff from there.
I bought a beautiful Italian leather corner suite, they are ÂĢ4000 in Natuzzi, on Ebay the buy it now price was ÂĢ2500, but once a week the dealer would put one in the auction, on about the 4th attempt I won one for ÂĢ1080 ( but I did download a sniping tool which is frowned upon by some, this meant my bid went in 2 seconds before the auction closed) I have it 3 years and it still looks brand new. Iâve also bought small parts which I found nearly impossible to buy anywhere, wheels for the top basket for a dishwasher, I got a full set for about ÂĢ2.00

i was looking at leather sofas, but have been put off by the preserve thing they sew in, which causes skin rashes, i take it you haven't had any problems?
i usually have my bid in place and ready to go in the last few seconds as well.

There was a link to a video clip (I think maybe on C4 forum) where they showed this woman, she had bought so much from eBay that there was no room to move in her house, loads of it still boxed up and she was still buying more!
I buy and sell on e-bay. I think its a good place. Its the Paypal system that i think is a rip-off.

No I've had no problems, I think the problem sofa's were from China, ( I lurve the sniping tool, you can set your bid days before & go out, best way I find because you won't overbid in a frenzy)

Why do you say that? I just buy a bit but have never had a prob with Paypal, in fact once they alerted me to a possible problem with a buyer and made sure I got the goods by flagging it up as a potential problem and threatening to remove her from eBay.
love it!
i have had some super things that you just can't locate in the shops from ebay!
it's an education
in fact if i see something rather expensive in the shops i always check it out on ebay to see if they have it BEFORE buying on the high street

I'm guilty of sniping too I'm afraid but I do buy a fair few items from the US and the bids often end during the early hours UK time when I'm in bed so the sniping facility comes into its own then.
I do buy and sell on eBay and the only gripe I have about selling are the excessive fees now imposed by eBay ( and Paypal).

I went through a phase of sniping for the fun of it, trying to get as close as I could to the end time. I'm bad.
Best time, 2 seconds.
