Sorry Renton, little idea.  My experience of DVD recorders has convinced me to never buy one again.  My guess if it's isolated is that digital TV sometimes seems to get out of sync and the best thing to do is change channels then change back. This seems to sync the sound but on a recording I guess you're just stuck with it. You could try pausing or some other method such as reselecting the chapter.  I've had sound dropping off altogether on my Panasonic DVD recorder, and quite frequently too.  It may be something to do with the video track lagging behind the audio track and the DVD software not doing the necessary tweaks to keep the tracks in time.  Could easily be the recorder rather than the recording.
