Do you like it? Do you know what it is?
A fad? A new music industry marketing fad? Much the same as drum and bass/ragga but with a new name? The sound of the future?

Sorry Carnelian, I don`t have a clue what you`re talking about.
Must be getting old.
Must be getting old.
I'm fine with drums and bass but what the hell is raga? If it's anything to do with reggae count me out. Can you post an example from youtube?
I'm getting old but I'm open to all sorts of new avenues that music chooses.
And LOL prom, it has a strong reggae/dub influence, so probably not for you.

So am I. Post what you`re talking about and I`ll gladly give it a listen.
This is my interpretation of it:
Ragga is hardcore dancehall reggae (the hardcore MC stuff). Reggae comes in many forms; roots, revival, lovers, dancehall, 2 step, ragga...etc.
Ragga was derived from the term raggamuffin (or a 'wild' person who was individual and stood out from the crowd and not always for good reasons). Ragga was used as a term in the 80's and early 90's but now dancehall is more commonly used to differentiate between the other forms of reggae. So, if someone said for example; "I'm listening to dancehall" (or ragga) then they'd be listening to real hardcore 'chattin on the mike' stuff. Whereas if they were listening to lovers rock, this is usually 100% singing and a much softer sound.
Today it might have a different interpretation but I was into that scene for years (and still am) and that's how us oldies talk about it anyway

I love dubstep!!
its the evolution of dance music I have been waiting years for!
as for the interpretation of it..
its all about the "drop"..
the wah wah wah booooooooom!
and I love all the "this is so dirty ....." comments you get on youtube.
most recent one I read that made me laugh was .... actually I have decided I probably shouldn't post it.. some might not find it quite as funny as I do.

I'm a fan of this one:
I'll shut up about this now

I think its an evolution of drum n bass.. but I do think it stands as a new genre in its own right. Its so easy to identify... the bass is so distinctive.
I really love it!
I really love it!
Dits I don't know if you're on that group I posted but they showcase some wicked (or siiiiccccckkkk) tunes
From 2:59 into this.. that sums up Dubstep for me..

I like it but not in love (yet), it sounds like a tease cos there's a build up and I'm waiting for a faster beat (like DnB or Jungle) but it doesn't happen. Great to chill to after a night of ravin though I really love it!
bugger..
I just woke up grumpy husband playing that!
"what is that horrible noise" he says with a screwed up face....

One morning I was out with the dog and I was singing Sex Machine really loud except I didn't know cos I had my headphones on, didn't realise I was walking past the Church at the time and all these people going to Mass in their Sunday best were not impressed. They were looking at me like this ----> I was so embarrassed but to shrug it off I said 'whatchya lookin at? Wanna bloody photograph??'
That didn't go down too well either.
hahahaha!
See I never sing with my headphones on, well not til I get home & walk through the door...
I love this one off Chase & Status No More Idols album too...
Daughter & I keep going round saying "I'm a bad man... "

I love this one too..
Though I will confess saying to daughter "wtf is a G6?" she replied "its a plane apparently.. I didn't know but was treated like an idiot for not knowing"..
I told her that if I'd had to take a guess at it I would have gone for an underattended meeting of world leaders!

Don't think its a fad, its been going for years....

Love it!
