Boooger...may have confused myself there with all the 'know's !!!!

But that other one Edith convinced herself that it was really Patrick....after he told her it was her he was really in love with.

Good episode last night . Nice to see Thomas pulled down a peg or two
I hope Lavvy walks away and lets Mary marry Matthew, but i expect that awful Carlisle wouldnt take to that very easily   I hope that new maid wont become the new Lady Grantham if Cora succumbs to the Spanish flu!
Sybil and the chauffeur is grating on me a bit tho  ...and so is Daisy..
Do we think Bates had more to do with his wife,s death than he is letting on ?
Yes Cosi, that was a lovely moment.
Last episode next week

FM

I've just watched it.  It was nice to see Thomas taken down a peg or two   Mrs Pattmore makes me laugh so much - she's gone from being a really sarky character to a funny one

It would be 'convenient' if Lavvy or Carlisle went of the dreadful Influenza but I think it's Cora that will pop off (will anyone miss her?)  Lord Grantham norty norty taking advantage of your position - very ungentlemanly of you

Ethel will give the child up so he can have a better life and she'll go back to Downton to work as a maid again    Would anyone miss Lady Sybil either?  Not me

As for Mr Bates - well perhaps he did do old Vera in and who could blame him but it wouldn't be much fun if everything worked out well for him - we love the angst produced seeing him and Anna trying to be happy and arranging a life together

Another fabulous episode! Totally gutted that Lord G snogged the maid and that it looks like he might want more....this has been bit of a let down plot wise as there was no real plot to the story....no real hint that he was unhappy with Cora or that this maid would turn is head so....at least with Sybil and Branson there has been a real build up to the story....I am serioulsy hoping that Cora survives the flu and that Lord G sorts his head out.....possibly the least satisfying storyline in the series.....

AAANNDD....wft happened to Patrick this week?? What did I miss??

Sooo glad the meddling Lady G told the delicious Matthew how Mary feels about him....mind you, saw Lavvy in a whole new light after Matthew's chat with Lady G....I suspect she may win out here as she has proven her love for him by sticking by him whatever whereas Mary didn't back in the first series when it looked as though he would no longer be the heir.....Mary rejected him when his prospects didn't look so hot...Lavvy did not.

Absolutely hated the stuck up father of the dead officer who got Ethel preggers....what a git. Hope he doesn't come back next week to bully Ethel.....can't stand the mare, but he is even worse!!

Was so good to see Thomas get his come uppance....serves the pillock right...still can't work out why him and Miss O'B are so close!! Will he be grovelling back at the Abbey for a job now he is so skint?? If so I hope he is given the most menial of posts! Will Miss O'B really confess to Cora about the soap thing?? And if she does, will that mean the end of her time at Downton even if Cora survives??

I'm dithering about the divine Mr Bates and his part in Vile Vera's demise...I hope she has merely set him up and that it will all come out in the wash as they say! I so hope that it all comes good for him and Anna next week....maybe they will have a Christmas Wedding for the festive special...or will that be M&M????

Looks like Carson may be about to have another heart attack....hope he survives....what will Mary do without him? Oh gawd...what if he dies and the ghastly Thomas gets his job??? *shudders*....

Can't wait for next week to see how the loose ends tie up....but really don't want it to end!!!

Hope the special is on Boxing Day, so i can get peace to watch it !

I have a feeling Lady Mary will jilt Carlisle and he will take revenge on Matthew and Lavvy because he knows LM still has feelings for Matthew.  We still don't know really what the secret is between Lavvy and Sir Raticus   The fact that Matthew kept Mary's cat shows he still has feelings for her but I think he feels he must honour his engagement to Lavvy because of her support for him even when things were at their bleakest

I hope Lady M does ditch Carliar....he is eeeeebil ....his fiendish plan to get her as far away from Downton as possible will fail miserably....esp if Cora does succomb to the flu....and if her beloved Carson is seriously ill as well....nothing will shift her from Downton then.  Would Matthew really ditch Lavvy for being drippy?? I don't think he would, so we need the big secret to come out properly!

we'd better write to that Fellow's chappie and suggest some changes Mrs B - after all, we seem to be better script writers than him

They are doing a 3rd series I think...I reckon nowt less than 'executive assistant writers' will do for us Pengy!!!

Am I alone in feeling that the Lord G snogging the maid had no real context in the series? I mean...why and where did these feelings suddenly some from?? I mean it's not as if Cora was busting a gut doing numerous good deeds during the war years etc....so he can't blame that can he?? I know it was alluded to at breakfast when she said she might not be back for luncheon....but surely that can't be the reason he'll use???

I'm intrigued!

Most of the scripts seem to be out of context and one feels that it's being made up as they go along.

No I agree with you Mrs B and I agree with GJ - they all seem to be out of context.  I've found the jumping time frames to be most disconcerting

We all know that sort of thing went on - usually it was the young man of the house although the master wasn't adverse to seducing the governess     There is no building up to why LG suddenly finds the main attractive unless this Fellows chap is trying to show how maids were routinely abused by those that employed them?  We've been led to believe that although LG married Cora for her money, it ended up being a love marriage!!!!

He gave nowt away Skylark  Matt and Alex did try and wheedle stuff out of him...but he just didn't give

He was also talking about a 4 part drama that is coming up (didn't say when) that he wrote about the Titanic...each episode focuses on a different group of people...it sounded fabulous when he was talking about it....more eye peeling needed!!!

I'm late I know, but I loved this weeks Downton, as usual! Cybil actually excited me! I found myself rooting for her & "Tom" to reach Gretna and come back married! I hope she keeps her promise to stay true to him Lord Grantham.. WTH?!!!!! I don't like it, I don't like it one little bit! Thomas got what he deserved, great acting there from him, the writers will have to find a way to keep him around Downton though won't they.. Lavvy is sooooo plain! I know it'd be harsh to dump her but I hope Matthew doesn't marry her! Ethel makes me cringe, she's grubby, but again great acting there As much as I dislike Carlisle, it'd be good to keep him around for the sake of Drama Roll on this week's finale! And I reeeeally hope the Christmas special gives us a special wedding. They really can't keep passing all these years by without any of them getting married

Maybe Matthew will marry Lavvy and then she dies from the Spanish flu (even though it looks like it will be Cora they bury!)....then he can marry Mary at Christmas!!!
