The crispy critter is obviously someone pretending to the heir but I doubt it is and Matthew will be re-instated  and he will fall in love with Lady Mary and miraculously his bits will start working again    I think Carlisle will lose all his money and fade into the distance with Lavvy

I don't love Mr Bates. Caught up tonight. I would forgive that lass who might or might not have had some sort of relationship with the Turkish gentleman. Mrs Jer does not love Mr Bates either and furthermore I am given to understand that she wouldn't climb over the chauffeur to get to him.

Fair do's GJ did you like the episode though? I think it's one of the best yet! Branson the chauffeur does nothing for me, I'd rather date lord Grantham than him

It's melodrama at it's worst IMO. However it's watchable melodrama and there's nothing on the tellybox on wednesdays. The way we use that particular saying round these parts means that the chauffeur has no chance and Bates less so!

I have a feeling that Mr Bates will be charged with Vera's murder especially as he had a cut above his eye 

 

I wonder if Thomas is going to make a packet out of the black market or get caught????  I also wonder Skylark if Lord Grantham is going to have an affair with that maid   Of course the big questions are will Lady Mary marry that newspaper chappy Carlisle and if she does Will Carson go with her?

Loved it as always!!! Can't decide whether I believe the Patrick bloke or not and as dna testing isn't around yet, how will they know? Mind you, if he is Patrick then surely there must be certain things that only he would know about certain members of family etc etc.....suspect Edith will mary him regrdless, she seems to have forgotten her farmer man quite easily!!! I could have wept when Lord G started giving that servant wench the eye in this episode but assured myself he never would, only for the trailer to make it look more and more likely  Old Lady G will give him what for, surely?

 

Chuffed to bits that the delicious Matthew appears to have feeling coming back somewhere...be it his legs or his man bits....just need him and Mary to ditch Lavvy and Carliar respectively!! Had a double dose of the scrummy Dan Stevens this week as he was in one of the episode of Poirot I recorded....bliss!! I reckon Carson will find a way to bring M&M together...aided and abetted by the fab Lady G!!!!

 

Thomas is naaasty!! Hope he gets caught with his black market dealings and I really hope they will reveal what his connection is to Miss O'Brien....if there is one at all!! And the way he smokes is still really annoying me...it makes my toes curl!

 

Vera's death will, as you have all said, get blamed on Bates, no doubt. I may have imagined it, but could Miss O'B have anything to do with it?? Will watch the last 2 episodes again tonight and ponder this question as it is bugging me!!!

 

Julian Fellowes can rest easy today as I have no fabulous script ideas for him today...mind you, I am sure a re-watch will soon sort that out!!! 

Oh....and I tried really hard to feel sorry for Ethel....I failed.

We caught up tonight (after double Corrie and HIGNFY) Mrs Jer loves it! I can't decide if it is Melodrama or Pantomime.

I am seriously hoping Brendan Coyle was leading us up the garden path in a recent interview I read where he hinted that maybe Mr Bates isn't as brilliant and dashing and wonderful and sexy (ok, my words, not his....but it's the same thing!)  as we all think....he alluded to a darker side....what with that and Lord G looking as though he is going to do the dirty on Cora...I fear I may need the smelling salts this week. Only a reunion between Mary and Mattew can save me now

Oh I hope not 

I've read that the Spanish flu pandemic rears it's ugly head tonight (hope that's not a spoiler!). My Great-great-grandfather died in that, left my great-great-granny widowed with 8 kids.

Oooooooooooooh I wonder if Lavinia catches it. That would make it a neat and tidy ending.
