According to our waiter, he's there all the time now so we'll definitely be going back in the next few months

I don't care if you had to rugby tackle him in a back alley - I'm still so jealous!  (hmm... come to think of it, I'd be even more jealous if you got to grips with him in a dark alley)   You even got to SMELL him....  *sighs*

You do ask some silly questions at times!  Of course I do!

Aww poor Edith, i never saw that coming either. What a cad! I try to avoid any spoilers and trailers so that was a shock. Not keen on that Ethel and hope she isnt back at Downton  I see trouble ahead with two masters, cant see it working out. Still not looking good for Bates  Looking forward to next Sunday, and its only Monday

One point niggled at me last night. I know we have been presented with this saccharine sweet version of life in a big country pile and the relationships between master and servants but I was ticked off with the illusion that Daisy the kitchen maid was the one that sent Lavvy's letter.

As a kitchen maid, Daisy would not have been making fires in the bedroom and so would not have had the opportunity.  I know it's a small point but it does seem as if Fellow's slight mistakes are now becoming larger ones!!!!  It didn't stop me enjoying the episode last night but I'm a pedant when it comes to roles and hierarchies and there is no way Daisy would be out of the kitchen much less put a letter in the box.

On that note - hopefully we'll have more Mr Bates next week and I too can see conflict between Matthew and Lord Grantham

(I can't believe I'm trying to work it out either... &nbsp

I'm sure he'd use that as an excuse but there would be maids and under maids well ahead of Daisy - you know those ones that have the uniforms on but sit at the dinner table without saying anything cos then they'd have to be paid

I'm all for a bit of authenticity and even more so since I watched that programme last week on BBC2 about the lives of servants

New Downton Abbey star Matt Milne has promised that his character will not have a smooth ride across the rest of the series, teasing that "torment" lies ahead for Alfred the footman.
Milne's character has become a central love interest in the show, attracting attention and a kiss from lady's maid Miss Reid (Lucille Sharp).

Sophie McShera's Daisy Robinson also has a crush on the new arrival, but has yet to reveal her feelings to the latest staff member downstairs.
"Alfred's got a tormented time ahead. It's going to be good fun,"
"Edward Speleers's new character Jimmy Kent comes in next week and he's going to add a whole new dynamic downstairs. So there's lots of fun in store."

Speaking about arriving on set for the first time, Milne said: "I think it says a lot about the rest of the cast, they've built up a real family over the last two years, but they've really accepted me and the other new cast members into their working group.
"It says a lot about them about how accepting they have been and I'm really grateful for that.
"There's no jumped-up people whatsoever. It's great to learn from that because you see that's how the big boys like Hugh Bonneville and Dame Maggie Smith do it and I've learned from that."
Commenting on the show's rise to become the UK's most-watched TV drama, he added: "Julian Fellowes has just got a knack for creating characters that people are interested in. That and some great performances - it's a perfect match.
"It's great to be involved in something so wonderful. It's wicked to have a small part in something like this."

Yes he looks very like him, i think it was William (very bad with names!) Spookily so, maybe thats why she is attracted to him. Thomas wont like his nose out of joint with him in the fold....
