Downton Abbey Lady Edith Sir Anthony Strallan

Fans of the show were given a hint of possibly nuptials at the end of last  Sunday's episode, when a trailer for the third show in the current series showed  shots of Edith, played by Laura Carmichael, preparing for what appeared to be a  wedding.

The clips followed an episode in which she declared her love for Sir Anthony  Strallan (Robert Bathurst) and her intention for them to be husband and wife -  despite the disapproval of her family and the fact she is around 25 years his  junior.

Downton Abbey Lady EdithLady Edith has been  unlucky in love during previous series of Downton

And the photos would appear to confirm that the wedding is taking place in  spite of their objections, with Hugh Bonneville's Earl of Grantham leading Edith up the aisle, as well as solo  shots of Edith in her wedding dress.

Away from the nuptials, however, the stage is set for drama as Mrs Hughes  receives the results of her medical tests, while Anna makes further attempts to  prove Bates's innocence.

Meanwhile Julian Fellowes has hinted that he is planning to write a prequel to the show,  which will focus on the early days of the Earl and Countess of Grantham's  courtship, and feature younger actors playing the roles currently played by Hugh  Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern.

The writer explained his plans at the Bafta Screenwriters Lecture series,  saying, 'I do actually have an idea of doing a prequel of the courtship of  Robert and Cora, when all those American heiresses were arriving in London.

'They had a slightly troubled courtship, because she was in love with him  before they married, as we know, and he married her entirely for her money.'

Fellowes added that the show would most likely be broadcast once Downton had  finished its run.

She was nasty, but his relationship with (Joanne Frogatt) is built on such trust. I'd hate to be proved right.

I know, that would be sad. Maybe someone murdered her so he got the blame..Thomas perhaps. It will all come out in the wash, as they say  Looking forward to tomorrows episode

I was 'Downton' way last night. My lovely, amazing, majestic (very much in the good books) husband surprised me by booking a table at Marco Pierre White's Carnarvon Arms in Highclere for dinner last night. The food was great and Marco came out to say hello and I got a hug. He smelled lush...a mixture of Chanel and food.

I'll go back in the daytime one day to have a look at the actual house.

Phew! I'm still reeling! What an episode poor lady Edith, I've spent all week thinking she's going to have a good thing happen. I did wonder if he might have a heart attack & die as they walked out the church but I certainly did not expect that. She looked so beautiful too, I like her dress better than Mary's to be honest Matthew was starting to get on my nerves with the Lavinia thing so I'm pleased that's wrapped up now. Ethel should have been written out, that's all. Aaaaaw mr Carson is so very fond of mrs Hughes I'm pleased she's not got cancer, I like her Poor mr molesly, bless him. I do like his character! Thomas vs o'brien is brilliant, far more entertaining than them two plotting together I hope they never make up Next weeks trailer looked very very exciting! I've been waiting for cybil to come back in to the main storyline

I had kipper patÃĐ with whiskey to start and then mackerel for a main Summer. I'm trying to eat more fish and less red meat so it was ideal. My husband had a massive steak and a whole bottle of wine to himself, so I drove home. I didn't mind because I'm breastfeeding at the moment anyway.
