Never been a dog owner, Saint, but I know exactly what you mean.

I really like Buddy too, but I've also got a soft spot for Burt the Akita. 

Oh, I luv's them EL     I was always a cat person but in fairness I love all animals  

I actually saw a grey squirrel running through the trees in a churchyard on my way to work yesterday morning  

The eyes are wide - the snout is long
