Ice never gets a chance to go off in our house, if it's not going in drinks, it's going in the sink to make the water colder for washing my face.

Mine takes care of me piles

I buy ice, i use it loads... but the ice in the compartments of my freezer have been there a long long time.

Yeah, same here.  In fact I stopped using the ice trays.

Why buy it why not make your own?
