I've said before and I'll say it again (sorry Roxan) but I don't think protocols are as 'tight' in the USA as they are in the UK i.e. our SOCO (scene of crimes officer) are always suited, booted and masked and in labs they generally wear white coats, hair nets and masks that way evidence can't be contaminated by stray hairs, sneezing or bleeding
