According to Bill Sheaffer she can request not to be present for this. I think the defence feel it's important for her to make a bit of a drama.

Belv the pelv has insisted she be present all through the pre trial and jury selection so I doubt he will allow the trial to proceed without her. The legal experts on the TV here say her not being present may be a reason for appeal later down the line.
