All phone calls were recorded and possibly gonna be used in evidence. Botgh of them knew that - that's why they were guarded.

Yes, but surely she would be saying constantly about finding Caylee , she seems to be getting a buzz out of it , her giggling is getting on my nerves ....

Snap.

I presume there were psychological assessments done on her, to make sure she was fit to plead? Surely, there must be some issues with this girl's mental health?

I'm sure there were assessments done. I think the defence chose not to go down that route and opted to go for trauma due to sexual abuse .Seemingly with no evidence other than Caseys word! Why would anyone believe Caseys word?

Well one would think so! She definately has severe mental problems, IMO

IMO, that will be the defence's biggest problem. She has lied and lied and lied about so many things - so why would anyone believe her sexual abuse allegations?

We've never heard her say that. The Defence opened with that shocker! They agreed that she'd lied and lied .........her daughter died in a drowning accident and Casey simply retreated into a world of lies as she's done since she was eight years old due to sexual abuse by her father (and later her brother). It was the first time it had been bought into court!

Just read back, agree with so many of your points, including the 'shes close i can feel it in my heart' comment

I have to disagree, i dont think she has mental problems, i think shes just a driven selfish bitch. I honestly do, i think she was so self absorbed she prob didnt 'think' about what she was doing to caylee, she did what she wanted and did what she had to with caylee in order to do that.

Gyps - I think you could be right. She is a compulsive liar - what makes her lie like that? I really don't know but it's calculating and manipulative beyond belief. I noticed her mother kept saying look at me - look at me when you're speaking - let me see your eyes. I think she (obviously) knows well what a liar her daughter is. How very sad that it would appear that the parents simply thought she was lieing to cover up for someone else (at that time). I guess it would kill you to believe that it was your own daughter that killed your grandchild.

Does that make sense? It does to me

It does make sense, Soozy.

As a parent, you would want to believe all the lies, because the alternative - that your daughter was responsible - would be too awful to contemplate.

Good morning Gaga Jury

Something from yesterday....

The prison vid: When Casey was talking to Cindy and George she said " You`ve been a great dad, great grandfather, best grandparents, she`s lucky that she had both of you... that she has both of you."

Whoops!

Not had a chance to catch up on here yet - see you in a bit.

Scotty

Just poking my nose in to say I am still reading all your updates guys and your thoughts etc. .but managed to stop myself going back to watching it live. .lost a whole day when I clicked the live link before and have some rooms to paint so can't do that anymore..

.. tis too compelling to turn off once you are  there..

have to say as much as Casey sounds like a pretty dreadful person I wouldn't want to be on a Jury that knows if they bring in a 'guilty of murder' verdict they may be sentencing the girl who sat in front of them for all those weeks to death..  slap her a few times yes maybe but being responsible for putting her to death makes my stomach turn at the thought..

I'd have to recuse myself I think cos altho I reckon I could murder somebody in a moment of anger and at the moment I found out what they'd done to me or friends or family I couldn't do it once I'd calmed down...  and I definitely couldn't if I wasn't actually connected to whatever they'd done that was so bad it made people close to the event feel murderous .. if that makes sense..

it always makes me wonder who signs up to work as an executioner in the first place.. gotta be a bit sick to want to do that job I reckon

Mount Olympus *Olly*

Hi Olly and Skylark

Can the jury refuse to sit on a trial that could result in the death penalty if they are actually to tally against it? I don't know - it would certainly be very difficult for them. I really don't see that it will end with a death penalty TBH - no one knows the cause of death so it will be very hard to prove 'murder' IMO.

I really don't know the answers - I'm no legal expert but have found myself absolutely hooked on this trial ..........all the twists and turns it's very dramatic. Olly - you did well to get out while you could - I wish I had your willpower

Soozy Woo

cheers guys and yes Soozy I think I used up all my willpower in getting out of the live feed thing. .was hard I can tell ya

Stonks if they have to say it is murder cos of the duct tape can they prove absolutely with evidence to back it up that Casey did it tho?  From all I've seen so far they can prove she was involved in a cover up and knew her child was dead but not a lot more.. the rest is assumption that she did x, y or z to the kid because of what she has said and done since and her character traits as they are unravelled. .i e the lies, the partying after etc.. ..

or have I missed the point. .again...

Thats where the jury come in cos it is all curcumstantial evidence but you can be tried and found guilty with it but I'm not sure what will happen if its not a majority verdict though....

stonks

oooer I find it a bit off if all they have is circumstantial evidence yet are going for a death penalty in trial then..wouldn't they go 1st degree with Life instead. .more chance the jury would give a guilty verdict then unless they are ardent death penalty fanatics... which I just cannot comprehend how anybody can be but, suppose there are many out there that are happy to see a murder  revenged with another state sanctioned murder

I'd defintely not want to be on that Jury..  cos she is obviously involved in something but if they couldn't prove definitively she did it I'd have to go for a lesser charge..

I think that's what'll happen. I can't see how they can give the death penalty without real hard evidence. Reasonable doubt and all that.
