Defence attorney Cheney Mason cross examined, his first appearance for defence. Asked a bunch of questions about what he saw Casey do... did you see Casey abuse Caylee etc, then said something like - My gosh you dont know anything about this case do you?!

Cheney obviously graduated from the same Law School as Bozo then?

This defense team are a bunch of nitwits!

So there are a team of defense lawyers? How many are there? Is this Chesney guy the top man? Has he been drinking?

Sounded like it Soozy.  Bozo is the lead lawyer. Cheney Mason is 2nd. He`s an experienced old boy with many murder trials/death penalty cases behind him. I get the feeling he`s a bit dotty now - he`s hard of hearing. That doesn`t make him dotty but he seems a bit off the wall with his questions. A bit like Bozo.

Another lawyer will cover forensics when they`re introduced in the trial. Another will argue motions ie. if they disagree with certain stuff the prosecution want to introduce, if that comes up. Another will cover the death penalty/Life without parole/mercy plea...if she`s found guilty.

That`s all I can think of right now...

I`m still gobsmacked at Cheney!

Yes I agree ...........and some of it after the jury were dismissed. I'm a bit confused TBH

I agree about not taking him seriously - he's like a TV comedy character from a sit com isn't he?

Its a very peculiar case, that has everyone quite in a high emotion al state just reading or watching it lol

I only got into it 3 days ago,(pleased in one respect so i have a more unbiased view)  i have read stuff for hours though, and watched all footage from day one of the opening coverage of the trial.

My take on it is this .... for what its worth lol

Casey (The accused) may or may not have had a sexually abused upbringing. i know some are calling her bluff, as her defence have just made it known recently, and of course a lot of sexually abused victims keep it quiet, thats part of the stigma attached to abuse.

Anyway, I feel Casey may have a dissociated personality, where one can detach from emotions and feelings, certainly if she did kill her daughter (Caylee) (accidentally or intentionally) it has been shown she carried on as normal after her daughter went missing. Casey had nights out, stayed at boyfriends house, and made on her daughter was staying with a nanny during the period of Caylees disappearance.

The nanny and her job did not exist, they were made up , she apparently told her family and everyone she knew she had a job and a nanny. This is untrue, she didnt have a job or a nanny.

She also stole from her family, forged cheques.

I feel she has a sociopathic personality or traits of one, due to all these actions being classic symptoms of a sociopath. Detachment from emotion, charming, beguiling, cunning, deceitful, only interested in taking from life, puts their needs above all others. Its very hard to spot a  sociopath just by first meeting them, as they are clever and can act like a regular person on the street.

IMO only now, i think she wanted a lifestyle that her daughter for her unfortunately got in the way.

She made up she had a nanny, and a job ! but she was out on an evening and through day without her daughter, saying her daughter was with a nanny. There was no nanny, so where was the daughter???

Did she infact hide her daughter or lock her in a room somewhere? Possibly covering her mouth to stop any noise, or as she admitted to an inmate in a letter, said she had used chloroform to help put her to sleep.

I think this is the case, and it went tragically wrong, she went back one time and found her daughter had died. (IMO) Accident?  not sure.  Killed her daughter? Possibly, without intent

Definate neglect of the highest order.

Does she deserve to get the death penalty?

Not in my opinion, but i do think if convicted she should be put away for life.

Her father has me feeling slightly odd about him as well, some things dont add up. hmmmmm

Ev, I`ve been following it from the beginning. Are you suggesting that because of that - I and others who have been there from day one, are somehow biased and you are not because you`ve only known about it for 3 days? If so - that makes no sense to me.

I read somewhere else on here where you posted we (us long termers) were possibly tainted/influenced by the media frenzy.

I never have been, ever. Nor have I been tainted or influenced by the many forums and blogs etc etc I`ve read.

I`ve listened to countless police interviews/ watched countless videos of police interviews/read lengthy witness depositions/ watched and listened to videos of Casey talking on her prison phone to her parents, brother and others/ read every prison letter she wrote and every letter she received/watched every pre-trial hearing/jury selections on and on...

My views on all of that are mine and mine alone. Unbiased and untainted.

I think I`ll go and have a wee read of the wonderful hinky meter.

Scotty, You have your opinions and i have mine.

Well when i say i feel people who are reading it with new eyes like the jury ( thats is why they are picked) who are just starting to hear the trial, are at a more advantage of being unbiased than those caught up in the emotions of this trial from the beginning . The media frenzy was not referring to you (dear me)  *agast*

I can already see from your posts that you are very highly emotionally involved, this does cause for some more bias views. Thats natural.

A few of us on my friends page and at home ( and i have heard it on the news about others) were saying its good to just get into it at this stage and make more unbiased conclusions from NOW.I was giving my opinion, its best when we dont agree with each other not to comment on each others posts if possible after that quite paranoid post thank you.

I am not belittling anyone who watched it from the beginning, ( not that their views are more correct than those who are watching it from now)

I'd ask you not to reply any further to my posts (only from this case) thank you, as emotions are quite strong, and not everyone agree's, and i can see it going tits up and i hope to avoid that.

Ev (Peachy)

You seem to have inserted yourself as the heed bummer on this thread and this case.

That`s quite an achievement for someone who`s only known about it for 3 days. Well done you.

You`re telling me that my views could be biased because "I`m very highly emotionally involved"

How do you know what my emotions are? Oh you said - by reading my posts on the live trial.  That`s some analytical brain you`ve got on you there Ev.

So, you`re just like the jury, unbiased and know nothing much about the case.

I`m very relieved you`re not a juror considering you posted yesterday that George threw Caylee over a fence in a white plastic bag. That would certainly send him to death row.

Now, If I was a juror, I would counteract that by telling you the facts. George threw a white plastic bag over the fence, The FBI retrieved it, there was no Caylee in it - just rotting household rubbish.

You really should get your facts right before you churn out mis-information.

If I see any posts by you that I don`t agree with or you get it wrong again, I`ll certainly be replying.

This is a forum. Don`t tell me what to do. Thank you.

Scotty

I've noticed in another forum that people say the father is also the grandfather ie George, I've brought this over..could you imagine if the defence have DNA proof of this....

caylee anthony>> her biological father

Since Casey Anthony (mother) is a chronic liar, and claims little Caylee's real father is deceased to due a car accident--HAS ANYONE BOTHERED TO LOOK INTO THAT STORY. Little Caylee Anthony has another set of GRANDPARENTS. Not just Cindy and George Anthony. It sickens me and I'm tired of posting and posting, and I haven't heard anything of looking for Caylee's real dad or other set of grandparents. Whether Caylee is deceased or alive, THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW!!!!, THEY HAVE AN OFFSRING. Lord knows, they could be out there looking for her TOO. I'm very tired of the media focusing on Casey, and Cindy, and George---Why isn't the Media focusing on searching for Caylee and/or finding the truth on little Caylee's father and his parents. And I strongly feel some people out there, should REALLY REALLY be listening to the Physics, that are posting there hints and knowledge of their findings!!! It's all being overlooked and/or put aside. If authorities would listen, little Caylee probably would of been found weeks ago. Thanks

Everyone in this part of Florida knows that it is suspected that George Anthony fathered Caylee and that he had been reportedly molesting Casey since she was a young girl. This explains what a headcase she is and the bizarre behavior of her parents. Casey has reportedly threatened to out her Dad if her parents didn't support her.

Trust me....why are'nt the courts demanding to know who the father is, it is sad that there's other grandparents out there non the wiser....

Ok - it's a new day - I like reading both Scotty and Ev -

Firstly - with regard to the jury can anyone tell me what the 'alternates' are?

And secondly - I find it puzzling that everyone including her parents thought Casey was working at Universal Studios for two years. She left for her job every day ......................where on earth did she go during those hours? It's a long time each and every day - who did she meet? What did she do? It must have some bearing mustn't it?

She told everyone that the father was a man called Jesus Oritz and he had died in a car crash. She cut his death notice out of the newspaper and showed it to her family. Jesus Ortiz did die in a car crash but his parents nor any of his family or friends had ever heard of Casey until Caylee went missing and questions about who her father was hit the media. As far as I know, they`ve had nothing more to do with it.

Scotty

pokes nose in. .am following the thread if not the live trial. .

Soozy Alternates on a jury are there as spares. .they hear the same as the full on jury and have to leave if the jury does too but they don't have a say in the final vote.. should a member of the original jury get taken ill or excused for any reason then one of the alternates takes their place. .saves having a retrial if the jury goes below 12 for any reason..

and that's the sum of my contribution to this . . not got a clue on the rest of it am just reading what is going on atm regarding the prosecutions case. .am waiting for the evidence against the mother to start proper.. ..

I do know a lot of evidence gets disallowed in the early stages pre trial if it was gained in what is deemed to be an illegal way regardless of whether it proves absolute innocent or guilt..  so in a lot of cases we never get to hear the real story in most trials.. here or over there... plus a lot of stuff gets twisted to suit a defence or prosecution and a rebuttal is often not allowed so twisted stuff can remain fact even if it is out of context..

goes back to lurk mode

Hi Soozy

Alternates are jury members who sit in throughout the trial. There are 5 alternates and 12 main jury members in this case. If a main jury member becomes ill or has to leave for some reason..an alternate replaces them and becomes part of the main 12. When the jury go into deliberations at the end of the trial, the alternates are not involved. Only the main 12 decide the outcome.

Where Casey went remains a mystery (unless she`s told someone since she`s been found out) but she must have had Caylee with her because there was no Nanny.

To keep that up for 2 years is beyond belief!

I`m off to cook some lunch. See you all in bit

Hi

Cheers for that. How on earth can someone remain invisible every working day for two years - especially if she had a small child with her. It's like she had another life - I'm surprised no one from this 'other life' has come forward as yet. It's just another really strange twist to this incredibly sad story.

I think the 911 operator asked the most pertinent question regarding Casey having been missing for 31 days: why are you phoning the police now? Why not 31 days ago?

I think the defence have their work cut out for them in this case.

I think so, too.
